The Shruthi-1 is a hybrid monosynth, combining the warmth of real analogue filters with the edginess and synthesis possibilities (FM, wavetable oscillators, modulation matrix, sequencing, full MIDI implementation) of digital synthesizers. Its hardware design is deceptively simple — optimized for DIY assembly, not for large-scale manufacturing — but don’t be fooled, its sonic range is wide! Sometimes grungily digital like a PPG-Wave, fat and funky like a SH-101, videogame-y like a Commodore 64, weird and warm like an ESQ-1 ; but more often than not, truly original.
Folks with quick eyes will notice that the video shows both the CEM3379 & SMR-4 Filter board and two different digital control boards. I’ve built a few of these devices over the past months and ended up using the best bits of video from each build. So yea, don’t get your panties in a knot about it.
The music is by a currently unnamed project I’m happy to be a part of. For the purposes of dissemination it needs a name, if only a temporary one, so I’m calling this one Enchanted Forest. It’s a bit of an inside joke for the Pacific Northwest. Anyway, you can hear the Shruthi with the SMR-4 filter in full effect all over this recording doing what it does best: sounding awesomely weird.

Geiger Counter – non-harmonic percussive sequencer for Kontakt
Cinematique Instruments has released Geiger Counter, a non-harmonic percussive sequencer based pattern generator module for Kontakt.
It is contrary to Cement a non-harmonic percussive module which is best suited to lend your music production a contemporary percussive color. You can easily create groovy patterns built out of bits, glitches and blips!
Geiger Counter comes up with two different sound groups which can create numerous sound colors: There are firstly six different sounds of bits, glitch and blips – available twice at two separate tracks and secondly six different noise samples. For modifying the character of your pattern, Geiger Counter provides plenty of options to change the sound to your very own requirements: lowpass- and highpass filter (with a random high- and highpass filter (with a random high- and low pass modulator), distortion-, lofi- and speaker switches, a cacophony (!) switch, separate fader to set the length and volume of all three tracks and separate slider to set the amount of two delays and a reverb.
Geiger Counter runs in Standalone mode as well as in-sync to your host application. Select one of the six different samples by clicking the mouse button and moving it over on the 16th note of your choice to play the sound. That´s it! Beside that Geiger Counter provides shuffle- and tempo modes and finally load/ save switches to save/recall your entire setting of Geiger Counter.

The 8 endless encoders, 4 potentiometers and 6 buttons form a functional and compact. There is also a embedded 4 steps sequencer: 4×4 steps x 6 voices
This patch was setup in Ableton Max For Live using only two instances of SonicCharge’s Synplant software synthesizer. These two patches where customized and designed to work with the timeFrogII. Creating for some very unique musical gestures. All sequencing and note generation is from the timeFrog controller.

MONOMOD – Korg Monotribe Mod / Hack
“First Hack of my monotribe. Enabling to set BD/SD/SD-Noise/HH Decays.”
BD and SD Decay can be set with 2K2 log potentiometers. It is very important to add a 300Ohm resistor to it, to avoid a continuous decay, that never stops!
HH and SD-Noise Decay are set by a two way switch that has no connection on middle position and a 5MOhm and 20MOhm on the outer positions. While the resistor value needs to be very high to get acceptable decay modifications, i decided to use switches. The switches have no connection when set to center position, so the original decay value is still available. With both outer positions of the switch shorter decay values are possible.
