Kim Pedersen & Nick Rothwell made this interactive sound installation using Percussa AudioCubes. For this project, using the AudioCubes was more efficient than developing the installation from scratch using low level tools. The AudioCubes can sense distances and detect each other’s position and location in a network. And you can build a network of cubes, consisting of 16 AudioCubes per USB connection.

New experimental EP: Celebrates the BBC’s Experimental Stereo FM Broadcasts
Absolutely fabulous 
It was 50 years ago this week when the BBC began broadcasting regular experimental stereo FM broadcasts. While the musical climate and how we get our music has changed considerably since then, there’s no doubt the BBC’s influence on all subsequent media, and recording artists, has been tremendous, especially the far-out sounds that came from its Radiophonic Workshop. To commemorate this anniversary, our very own Tim “Love” Lee (Two For Tennis, Tuesdays at 4pm ET) pays tribute to the BBC’s wild side with Test Signals—a limited-edition EP of electronic strangeness on Lee’s Tummy Touch imprint featuring the help of Tara Busch, Jack Dangers and Si Begg. Arduino MIDI controller accelerometer/gyro test

All LED, button, and MIDI processing is being done by the Arduino, MIDI out was sent to and recorded in Ableton.
Digital turntable for iPad – Helix Beatmix Demo
As Peter describes it:
I made a new digital turntable from the ground up. It redefines what a turntable in the iPad should be. It has a lot of creative ideas packed into it.
This is the first turntable to have a circular on-the-groove audio waveform, custom colors, totally real-world accurate geometry, and a high dynamic range pitch adjust that can move by a hair, with special metering graphics, over a huge range.

This electromechanical sculpture was ‘born’ in Nashville, Tennessee on 2 June 2012, at 6:18 PM. It has been programmed to have the average human lifespan of babies born in Tennessee on that same day: approximately 78 years. The kick drum beats its heartbeat (at 60 beats per minute), and the mechanical counter displays the number of heartbeats remaining in its lifetime. An internal, battery-operated clock keeps track of the passing time when the sculpture is unplugged. The sculpture will die once the counter reaches zero.
Experimental electro: Cardiovascular Medical Unit
A semi improvisation featuring tape machines, sine wave generators, burst generator, tape echo, various effects, and a dash of reverb.
This piece includes sounds recorded during a very recent trip to the hospital.

During the first half of 3rd year at ECAL, I made an installation project based on the visualization of sound. I am interested in how the spectator is immersed in the interactive piece in the presence of this element. I decided to continue my research on the themes of sound and atmosphere.
Sona is an experimental game on iPad inspired by the classic “Simon game.” The universe is composed of enigmatic sound paintings that the spectator must solve through simple interactions. The game is played with headphones to focus attention on the sound.
This project allowed me to study in detail the acoustic phenomena and how we store and perceive sounds. The immersion and sound have become essential elements for me in an interactive project.
