Dancing on the Berlin Wall – Rational Youth

July 16, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Dancing on the Berlin Wall – Rational Youth

Legendary Canadian pioneering new wave/synthpop band Rational Youth will be releasing a series of new remix EPs on their original own ‘YUL’ label. Rational Youth existed from 1981-1986, reunited for a synth-pop festival in Sweden in 1997 and were officially revived by founding member Tracy Howe in 1998. The first MCD is “Dancing on the Berlin Wall” which will be released on August 1st. The title comes from their 1982 album “Cold war night life” of which “Dancing…” was one of the stand-out tracks.

This EP features brand new recordings of the classic song (never before issued as a single), sung in English and in German, in ‘Pure’ and ‘Euro Dance’ versions – whatever that means. Also included is an 80’s style New Wave extended dance mix. Added to that you’ll get the original version to round out the 6 track package.

The EP was produced by Tracy Howe and Bill Vorn, the original 1981 duo and mixed & mastered by Montreal producer, Jean Pierre Isaac.

Tracks:

  1. Dancing on the Berlin Wall [Pure Extended Mix] 6:58
  2. Dancing on the Berlin Wall [Jeep Euro Remix] 4:00
  3. Dancing on the Berlin Wall [Pure Edit] 3:43
  4. Wir tanzen auf der Berliner Mauer [Jeep German Euro Remix] 4:00
  5. Wir tanzen auf der Berliner Mauer [Pure German Edit] 3:43
  6. Dancing on the Berlin Wall [1982 Original Mix] 4:35

Ashbury Heights call it quits

October 14, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Ashbury Heights call it quits

Too bad for ElectriXmas, but what the heck :-)

Swedish electropop duo Ashbury Heights has decided to call it quits.

– Ashbury Heights turned five this year. This should be a cause for celebration but after the last 24 months of constant fights and arguments with our label this band has begun feeling like a prison. For this and many other reasons I do hereby announce that I am disbanding Ashbury Heights. We should of course also be prepared to acknowledge the possibility that our music is rubbish and all our fans simply have awful taste (bless you), , member Anders Hagström says but adds:

– When and if we can get out of our contract with our label, Ashbury Heights may be reunited but until then all my musical projects are on hold.

The second Ashbury Heights album “Take Cair Paramour” was released by Out of Line on July 2

Video Killed The Radio Star

August 12, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Video Killed The Radio Star

Trevor Horn and ZTT Records have announced the return of The Buggles, on stage for their first ever full live gig, 30 years after their international #1 hit single Video Killed The Radio Star.

Trevor will reconvene the original Buggles line-up, including Geoff Downes (Yes, Asia) and Bruce Woolley (Camera Club, Grace Jones), to preform their début album, The Age of Plastic, in full.

No tour is planned, no DVD or live CD will be released. The Buggles, along with some guest artists, will perform live on stage for one night only, on 28 September 2010 at a West London venue.

This event is being put together to raise funds for London’s Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability. Active since 1854, the hospital has a simple but very important mission: to add years to life and life to years.

Further details – including surprise guests, support acts, and pre-show exclusives – will be announced soon. You can register for more info at Horn’s site.
