Pythagoras teaser video

March 10, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Pythagoras teaser video

Rob Fielding shared this update of his upcoming microtonal iPad synthesizer, Pythagoras. Put in octave switch and octave rounding, which automates octave switching to make scale and arpeggio runs easy. I still haven’t added pitch snapping to Pythagoras, which slows me down a little when doing this kind of thing. With pitch snapping, I should be able to do this as fast as on Xstrument.

This configuration of a Buchla 200e 12-space system with 222-223e Multidimensional Kinesthetic Input Port was suggested to me by Giorgio Sancrsitoforo last month. Thanks Giorgio–a brilliant design. Here is a little (low rez) video of scrolling through 9 freshly-made patches. Enjoy!

Monolith – Turns your guitar into a Moog Synthesizer

March 6, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Monolith – Turns your guitar into a Moog Synthesizer

This is a preview of Sentient FX’s upcoming Monolith – an application that turns your guitar into a Moog synthesizer.

Here’s what they have to say about Monolith:

Our guitar synthesisers do not use MIDI to achieve their tones. We feel that the MIDI protocol is too crude to deliver the full range of guitar players’ nuances, rendering performances sterile and lacklustre. Pitch informaion is derived directly using “Literal Nuance Interpretation” which values “feel” above all else.

Somebody once said of conventional MIDI guitars, “it feels like the guitar is playing you, not you playing the guitar”. We aim to put you back in control..

You can use palm muting, harmonics, ebows, sustainiacs and whammy bars with this technology. You don’t have to close old doors to open new ones here.

Monolith is expected for release in Spring 2011.

The main parameters of this instrument will not display the value and this it’s part of concept because you should judge sound with the ears not with the eyes. Modulations, envelopes, filters and FX are based on the Kontakt engine. The reverb used by REDD it’s also based on the impulse response created with Bricasti M7 V2.1 and loaded in “Convolution” Send FX slot from Kontakt 4.2 with 0 latency setting.

Currently you’ll find 92 presets in the full version and about 18 presets in Demo version.

REDD for Kontakt 4.2 or higher is available to purchase for 49.99 EUR.
