Glitch for free

Here’s a free sample pack of glitches from Dennis Harms at Bronto Scorpio Music. To download: click here

“Don’t expect pseudo analog stuff here! You get 120 weird, digital noises with this pack! These sounds are perfect for Autechre, Richard Devine, Aphex Twin like tracks, but can also add some special elements to other tracks. I designed these sounds over the last few months and thought it would be cool to share them with you. The pack contains 120 24Bit/44Khz wave files and a simple Kontakt (3.5 or higher) instrument where the samples are mapped across the keyboard. Mod- and pitchwheel do some crazy things in this instrument too!” – brontoscorpiomusic

(R)evolver for Reason

June 3, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on (R)evolver for Reason

REVOLVER is an analogue synth refill and multisample library, based on the sounds of DSI Evolver keyboard.

REVOLVER

In other words, it can be viewed as a continuation of the Analogue Monsters series: REVOLVER provides vivid, dynamic and rich-sounding real analogue sounds, giving you a powerful new synth in your Reason rack.

DSI Evolver is an incredible synthesizer that incorporates many of Dave Smith and Sequential’s old secrets, circuits and technologies. It uses a monstrous four oscillator voice architecture – two analogue DCOs and two digital – with two independent Curtis analog low-pass filters.

The analogue oscillators feature multiple classic waveforms plus pulse-width modulation and hard sync, and they sound really nice and big. The digital oscillators feature FM synthesis, Ring Modulation and 96 wavetables. Modulation capabilities are handled by four LFOs and three ADSR envelope generators.
The Evolver’s analog-style sequencer brings itself to life with animated evolving sounds. All modulators can be synced for massive rhythmic sounds.

sample source: 1.63 GB multisample in 24 bit wav format. All samples are perfectly looped and contain the unity note info for quick and proper automapping. The sample source is also included as a multisample library.

Although not a brand new release the Cycle on from peff is a real treat (free to all reg Reason users at Propellerhead)

CycleOn is a real-time playback system for ReCycle REX loops. This combinator based instrument patch is designed to create live performance and DJ Style effects using Propellerhead Software Record + Reason 4.0 (both applications are required).

The main features of CycleOn include Tempo Synchronized Loop Playback; crossfading between two loops; auto-synchronized start and stop; loop start re-triggering effects; delay based audio juggling; a dual stage beat repeater effect; and one-click effect initiator buttons. The controls are programmed for use in a live situation, and when used in conjunction with a control surface, CycleOn patches form the foundation of a compelling performance piece.

Native Instruments has introduced DEEP FREQ, a powerful effects processing suite for use with KORE 2 and the free KORE PLAYER. Complementing the acclaimed DEEP RECONSTRUCTIONS and DEEP TRANSFORMATIONS packages, DEEP FREQ focuses on intense and intricate frequency manipulation to transform audio material in innovative and inspiring ways.

Created by expert sound designer and producer Denis Gökdag, DEEP FREQ provides 150 sophisticated multi-effect combinations based on the powerful sound processing engines of ABSYNTH, GUITAR RIG and REAKTOR integrated in KORE. Through complex combinations of filters, resonators, frequency shifting, resynthesis, granular synthesis and other advanced algorithms, DEEP FREQ can fundamentally alter and reshape the tonality of beats, melody lines, vocals and any other audio material with spectacular and unconventional results.

Despite the complexity of the underlying effect configurations, the operation of DEEP FREQ is entirely straightforward due to the KORE user interface. The unified parameter mapping within KORE 2 and KORE PLAYER gives immediate, intuitive control over the sonic characteristics of the effects, making DEEP FREQ an especially efficient and immediate sound shaping tool for musicians, producers and DJs.

Lady Gaga wants to make a cover of Depeche Mode

Lady Gaga has said she wants to record a cover of Depeche Mode’s 1984 hit song “People are people” adding “I could really give it the melody it never had”.  24-year old Lady Gaga who wasn’t even born when the Depeche Mode track was released, has been inspired by the many mash-ups between Depeche Mode and some of her songs that are floating on the Internet.

So she says: “I spend literally hours on YouTube each day checking what people post about me, reading the comments and so on. And I was so surprised that many Depeche Mode fans appeared to be Lady Gaga fans. I didn’t know the band existed until I saw a mash-up of ‘Paparazzi’ with ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’. I advise everyone to check out Depeche Mode, they are so underrated.”

In the same interview she appears to believe that Vince Clarke (Erasure) is still part of the band: “I’m a huge fan of Erasure and it was so funny when I heard that Vince is also a part of Depeche Mode! It’s so unlike his Erasure sound!” So how did she end up choosing “People are people”? Simple: “My manager choose the song for me, he knows things so much better.” Ok… well, you all know what to expect: an Erasure version of “People are people”. That promises to be funny!

Speaking of Lady Gaga and Depeche mash-ups check out the two shots below:
