Modular audio processing system used within Reason 4
The EMG (Evolving Mood Generator) is a modular audio processing system used within Reason 4 or Reason+Record 1.0 and above where you can load your own sounds and then process them through a series of slowly evolving mood send effects and generators. Use the various rotaries and buttons on the Combinators to shape the sound.

Following Recoil’s recent US leg tour announcement, we got word that the gig taking place at The Metro in Chicago on 26th October will be a double bill featuring both Recoil and Gary Numan. Numan and his band will be performing his classic “The Pleasure Principle” album in full. Also on the bill for that evening is Architect. What is Nodal?
Nodal is a generative software application for composing music.
It uses a novel method for the notation and playing of MIDI based music.
How does it work?
This method is based around the concept of a user-defined graph. The graph consists of nodes (musical events) and edges (connections between events). You interactively define the graph, which is then traversed by any number of voices. These voices play the musical events as they encounter them on the graph. The time taken to travel from one node to another is based on the length of the edges that connect the nodes. Nodal allows you to create complex, changing sequences using just a few simple elements. Its unique visual representation shows a structural representation for generative systems that you can edit and interact with in real-time as the composition plays.
The Daft Punk challenge

Harrison Krix – a self-proclaimed “27-year-old dork working in graphic design and living in Atlanta” – was up for the challenge, and after “17 months and countless hours,” his unique hi-tech headgear is finally complete.
The helmet is a replica of the one worn by the Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, and you can see how it was made, in no less than 749 steps, in the video above. More details are available on Harrison’s blog.
Oh, and before you ask, no he’s not going to build you one. “THIS PROJECT WAS A ONE-OFF. I AM NOT TAKING ORDERS FOR DUPLICATES,” says Harrison, and with extreme capitalisation like that, you know he really means it.
