Teaser for the new Michael Jackson video game released

September 18, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Teaser for the new Michael Jackson video game released

The trailer for Michael Jackson: The Experience claims the game “will electrify the world.” At the very least, it’ll piss off the downstairs neighbors.

The first video for the new dancing game, released Thursday by gamemaker Ubisoft, depicts people on the street re-enacting the late Michael Jackson’s famous moves, paying particular homage to the iconic video for early ’80s hit “Billie Jean.”

The message of the trailer is that before all the private ugliness and his untimely death, the King of Pop brought smiles to the faces of millions and inspired more than a few to moonwalk.

With the wild success of Just Dance, there’s a chance that Michael Jackson: The Experience could be another smash hit for Ubisoft.

Stop motion form and colour, using light painting techniques

September 18, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Stop motion form and colour, using light painting techniques

This unofficial Tron Legacy music video, Light Drive, features stop motion light painting by Kim Pimmel:

I’ve been interested in taking my Light Study photo series and evolving them into motion pieces. I shot a lot of footage for a VJ gig for FITC San Francisco. So I edited together those stop motion sequences, mashed up some audio from the Tron Legacy trailers, and out came Light Drive.

The video is stop motion, so every frame is an individually shot photograph. Each photograph is a long exposure photo, with exposures reaching up to 20 seconds in some cases.

To control the lights, I used an Arduino controlled via bluetooth to drive a stepper motor. The stepper motor controls the movements of the lights remotely from Processing.

The light sources include cold cathode case lights, EL wire, lasers and more.

15 magical tracks of contemporary electronic music

Machine is a unique compilation album and collaborative effort, produced in its entirety by the elektron-users.com community.

Introduction to Machine

Machine is a unique compilation album and collaborative effort, produced by the Elektron-Users community.

Machine – a single word and concept that has guided the imagination of electronic musicians for decades: one word that has captured the attention of electronic music makers, from the early pioneers to the electronic luminaries of today.  As relevant as ever, we have chosen this concept to provide a starting point for the Machine compilation album. The compilation seeks to investigate various aspects of this term, and bring some new interpretations to the table.

The album consists of 15 magical tracks of contemporary electronic music, crafted by artists from all corners of the world. The tracks and artists are united by the Machine concept, and the loud and proud use of Elektron musical instruments. The love of Elektron instruments has been a primary inspiration behind the album, and what united us in the first place.

Machine is the second compilation crafted by the Elektron-Users community, and we hope it will bring as much joy as our first compilation, The 45 Tribute, did.

All proceeds from the album will go to the World Wildlife Foundation.

Tara Busch engages for the Orchestron

September 17, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Tara Busch engages for the Orchestron

Vako has been busy doing female voices with Tara Busch, watch the video for more info:

A new release in our line of Vako Orchestron discs, SOLO FEMALE VOICE. It’s unlikely that there will be sufficient demand to do a second run of 30 of these discs, so your best bet is to buy as many of these as you need while you can! Any future additional copies will most likely be done as one-offs, which are twice as expensive to produce, and thus will cost twice as much.

SOLO FEMALE VOICE is an entirely NEW sound for the Orchestron. Tara Busch of analogsuicide.com lent us her vocal cords once again for a sound similar to, but not exactly the same as the vocal sound on our Optigan “Minimalism” disc. This sound features a consistent “ahh” over the entire range. Please excuse my awful playing here, which is just a quick noodle to demonstrate the sound!

PLEASE NOTE: This disc WILL NOT play properly in an Optigan! They WILL play, but the sounds will NOT be mapped correctly to the keyboard- they will be mapped mostly haphazardly across the chord buttons. Please don’t order this disc expecting to easily use it in an Optigan. In the future we will be porting the Orchestron sounds to the Optigan- please be patient! :)

Stay tuned for more Orchestron discs, both new and remastered titles!

September 17, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Reznor NIN soon to release five-track freeby

As you might recall, Trent Reznor from NIN has been writing the OST for the upcoming Facebook movie, “The Social Network” alongside Atticus Ross. A website is to be launched any moment now to give away a free five-track sampler of the upcoming record.

Reznor’s own record company, The Null Corporation, will be releasing the full album on September 28 – the film will reach a cinema near you on October 1.

Note though that the soundtrack will be released in a number of formats, including audio Blu-ray, they however also partnered with Amazon to digitally release the album for a measly $2.99 and that for all 19 tracks (You’ll be able to get it right here).

Hervé’s new belter ‘Together’ (which takes the chorus to seminal Primal Scream track ‘Come Together’) will feature on the forthcoming ‘Cheap Thrills Vol 2’ album (2 x CD) alongside exclusive tracks from Trevor Loveys, Donovans and new recruit to the Cheap Thrills gang, Baxta. Look out for it in October but before that get your hands on the wondrous Count & Sinden album out August 23rd… it is Mega.

‘Together’ is out on 18 October 2010.

Steve Duda of Xfer Records has (re)released 8-Bit Shaper, a bent waveshaper effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Steve writes:

back from the dead, also made an AU version and updated it (GUI improvements, performance improvements, bugfixes).

disclaimer: The sound is *slightly* different than previous, so if you happen to have the VST from 2006 in saved projects I would recommend to not update.

8-Bit Shaper is available as a free download for Windows and Mac (VST/AU, requires OSX 10.5 or later).
