Here’s a prototype of our MIDI modules built into a custom controller we built for Sound Tribe Sector 9. The MIDI modules fit in a standard eurorack enclosure. This is a preview of what we will be releasing with our Livid Modules.
Taking a look at the OATMEAL soft synth
Oatmeal is a free synthesizer that is capable of making a wide range of sounds from the useful to the just plain wierd or what most people would call a good around synthesizer. Sunrizer and SoundPrism Pro: Setup
Sunrizer was issued in a new release a couple of days ago, the popular software synthesizer for iOS.
Here’s what’s new in Sunrizer v 1.3:
- Virtual MIDI ports and full multitasking support (use BKG button)
- Sunrizer now reacts to MIDI program and bank change messages. Internal Sysex format allows other supporting apps to take full control of Sunrizer.
- Web banks library
Highlights:
- True SuperSaw sound emulation, first found in the legendary Roland JP-8000 synthesizer. SuperSaw is a layered waveform consisting of multiple saw waves which are detuned to create an extremely full and epic sound. It’s possible to use 2 supersaw oscillators per voice * 7 polyphony = 98 saw oscillators playing the same time!
- Two independent filters per voice with configurable routing. You can select between various filter types including classic resonant LP,HP,BP,Notch and less common like Comb and Formant.
- The Morph Group function lets you continuously morph of up to 30 parameters in a sound (including effects), using only the modulation wheel.
- Full support for CoreMidi and MidiMobilizer, MIDI mapping

5 stage resonator demonstration
“This is a 5 stage 555 based resonator, the core is based on the Electronotes circuit (3 stages). Not trying to be musical here, just a fixed tone from a VCO, a signal from an envelope generator and some knob twiddling to give some idea of what this does.”
Custom Alligator Patterns in Reason
In this video, Reason Product Specialist Mattias Häggström Gerdt shows us how to turn off Alligator’s built in patterns to create custom gate rhythms using a couple of Reason devices like the Matrix Pattern Sequencer and Redrum’s step sequencer.
Check out the new iPad synth – Slynthy
Developer Mitchell Cichocki has released Slynthy, a basic X/Y pad synth for the iPad.
It has three settings:

808 State are a British electronic music outfit, formed in 1987 in Manchester,taking their name from the Roland TR-808 drum machine and their common state of mind. They were formed by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson, and they released their debut Newbuild in September 1988.
The band secured commercial success in 1989, when their song “Pacific State” was picked up by BBC Radio 1 DJ Gary Davies.
Cool music installation by Swedish electronica artists Andreas Tilliander and Håkan Lidbo
H-A-C-K is a threedimensional sound- and videosculpture by electronicaproducers Andreas Tilliander and Håkan Lidbo together with audio-visual artist Joel Dittrich.
In H-A-C-K music is created by all sounds accompanying old analogue stereos, what we usually think of as noise. These mostly unwanted sounds are here composed in a way that makes them ring beautifully instead.
In the exhibition the viewer is struck by a dense mass of impressions. Since the sound comes from several different sets of speakers, which all have a different character of sound and are placed at various heights and depths, the impression is multidimensional. Furthermore if you move around in the room an interactive experience is created where you discover completely new sounds and soundcombinations. The sounds will be visible on a number of TVs connected to the noise producing apparatuses.
A set of performances where the participating artists and invited guests play the installation is also planned during the exhibition period. H-A-C-K is exhibited in Färgfabrikens projectroom 25 aug. — 16 okt. 2011. Opening party and performance thursday 25 aug. 19.00 — free entrance!
