SSSSynth iPad App Review
SSSSYNTH is Monophonic Virtual Analog Synthesizer. This is a basic monophonic synth app and it’s free. Version 1.0 does not support CoreMidi. You also can not store any of your settings or patches. Filter section is not smooth. You can hear stepping. Weird white keys, not typical length. Nice delay with filter effect. Oh yeah it’s free!
Beep Poet 2 – Home made noise maker in a can

The first half of this video shows the Beep Poet 2 connected via its 1/4″ jack and the second half shows it playing through its internal speaker. The Beep Poet 2 is a battery powered noise maker in a can. Its great for making sound effects and silly noises. It is controlled by 4 knobs, and 2 switches.
It has 2 oscillators (Red and Green knobs). Osc 1 produces audio frequency ranges whilst osc 2 produces LFO and audio frequencies which is great for extreme effects. Osc 1 goes to the output through a simple passive filter (Yellow knob) Osc 2 can modulate the pitch of osc 1 by the amount set by the blue knob or gate its volume when the modulation switch is turned on. There is a switch to trigger the unit which can be locked in place by pushing it one way or give a momentary action by pushing it the other.
The knobs all go backward. This is because I’m using logarithmic knobs which make the oscillators easier to control when wired up the wrong way round. The Beep Poet 2 has a small loudspeaker to produce sound but can also be plugged into external equipment via a 1/4″ socket on the base of the unit. The Beep Poet 2 is powered by a single 9v battery (not supplied) which can be installed by removing the nut around the 1/4″ socket and removing the base. Its mounted in a recycled tin can. It is also supplied with an instruction CDR.

With the help of capacitive touch sensors the evo is able to read your fingers movement on top of a keys surface. Next to pitch and velocity there is now a third layer of polyphonic data input.
Think of polyphonic control of pitch and expression. Think of having a pitch or mod wheel integrated into every single key. Think of never ever leaving a key just to turn or push some knobs or buttons.
So, it’s a combination of classic keyboard key and modern touch technology. The best of both worlds combined in a single keyboard. But best of all! The characteristical function of a key remains unchanged. The evo still features traditional pressure-sensitive keys. But in addition there are now all the advantages from a touch-sensitive input device in every single key.
So. At first this might sound like the evo is an all new instrument. But it’s nothing more than a traditional master-keyboard… With capacitive touch inside every key.

Buchla formed his electronic music equipment company, Buchla and Associates, in 1962 in Berkeley, California. Buchla was commissioned by avant garde music composers Morton Subotnick and Ramon Sender, both of the San Francisco Tape Music Center, to create an electronic instrument for live performance. Under a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation Buchla completed his first modular synthesizer in 1963. The result was the Buchla Series 100, which he began selling in 1966. Buchla’s synthesizers experimented in control interfaces, such as touch-sensitive plates. In 1969 the Series 100 was sold to CBS, who soon after dropped the line, not seeing the synthesizer market as a profitable area.
In 1970 the Buchla 200 series Electric Music Box was released and was manufactured until 1985. Buchla created the Buchla Series 500, the first digitally controlled analog synthesizer, in 1971. Shortly after, the Buchla Series 300 was released, which combined the Series 200 with microprocessors. The Music Easel, a small, portable, all-in-one synthesizer was released in 1972. The Buchla 400 was released in 1982, which featured a video display. In 1987 the fully MIDI enabled Buchla 700 was released.
Beginning in the 1990s, Buchla began designing alternative MIDI controllers, such as the Thunder, Lightning, and Marimba Lumina. With the recent resurgence of interest in analog synthesizers Buchla has released a revamped 200 series called the 200e.

gAtari – Atari 2600 chipmusic project by cTrix
Easy to get somewhat nostalgic watching this Atari project
“The “gAtari” was my excuse to do something a little silly after I discovered that the Atari 2600 was more limiting than I realized! (31 pitches, minimal waveforms and only 2 channels!) I needed an EQ which could take a high voltage and drop it down to line level (Boss bass EQ) plus a way to hold loops between tracks and parts (Boss delay). So rather than have it “DJ” style config, I thought I make something a little more creative. It uses my atari-x-mod converter software which compiles binary files for Atari.
