TB MIDI Stuff – new modular MIDI control surface for iPad
The app lets you create your own pages, or use the built-in MIDI keyboard (with Arpeggiator, modulation wheel, pitch wheel and accelerometer velocity), the built-in Pads controller (with customizable pads banks, accelerometer velocity, transposition, full velocity mode and repeat mode) or the 16 channels MIDI mixer (pan, volume and mute).
The page editor lets you create your own control pages. It contains some useful stuffs like pasteboard, undo manager, multi selection or z-order managment.
TB MIDI Stuff use CoreMidi : you can use any supported device, like the native WiFi driver or the camera connection kit with an external sound card. Each page can use a different CoreMidi driver.
Controls can use the iPad accelerometer as input (even faders and knobs), in each dimension (X, Y, Z or, for XY Pads, a mix of them).
The application library contains :

Each control can drive simultaneously multiple MIDI messages like Control Change messages (single 7bits and coarse/fine 14bits), RNP/NRPN messages (7 and 14bits), Pitch Bend messages, Program Changes messages, Note On/Off messages.
You can open up to 32 pages simultaneously. You can change pages with three fingers swipe gesture, manage the pages order, open multiple instances of the same page and change the MIDI Out driver or the MIDI Out channel (or both) without entering the editor for each instance.
Swipe shortcuts (1, 2 and 3 fingers) let you access quickly to the MIDI keyboard, the pads controller or the 16 channels mixer.
TB MIDI Stuff contains some demo pages and 7 pads banks. For the pads banks :

Born in 1985 in Japan and living in Berlin since 2010.
After various music activities, in 2008 he started a solo-career in electronic music and visual arts. Since then he has been involved in the planning and implementation of numerous events in Tokyo and Berlin.
He also composed pieces for other artists and for compilations, as well as creating music videos.
With the sound and real-time generated images, he combines acoustic and visual elements in an effort to engage all the senses, not simply sight & hearing.
On the laptop Akagawa mainly produces rhythmic electronic music,and his dynamic but sensitive works resound in the hearts of the audience.

Steinberg puts out an updated version of Cubase
Steinberg has released the previously announced and officially supported 6.0.5 maintenance update for Cubase 6, Cubase Artist 6, Cubase Elements 6, Cubase AI 6 and Cubase LE 6. Including refined automation handles, full support for two WK-Audio remotes and improved decoding performance under Windows, the 6.0.5 update integrates several enhancements and fixes.
The 6.0.5 maintenance update introduces the following improvements:
- Automation handle visibility: Automation handles are now displayed independently from any zoom level as soon as the mouse cursor is placed over an automation lane. If automation handles are selected, handles on all other automation lanes are displayed as well.
- Support for WK-Audio ID-Console / ID-Mix-VU: Cubase 6 now fully supports the WK Audio ID-Console / ID-Mix-VU to ensure seamless integration.
- Video engine optimizations: Under Windows OS, Cubase 6.0.5 features further improved decoding performance for Motion JPEG OpenDML video in AVI containers as well as Photo JPEG material.
The following issues that have been resolved in this version:
- Project: “Delete time” command now works properly if signature track is enabled.
- Record: Sample rates different than 44.1kHz no longer lead to multiplication of lanes due to wrong overlap resolution on project load.
- Record: Recording MIDI in “merge” mode no longer creates additional MIDI parts instead of merging.
- Comping: Copying comped audio events no longer leads to moving instead of copying the events.
- MIDI: Reloading a previously saved project in Cubase Artist no longer disables the input transformer of MIDI Tracks.
- MIDI: Dragging a part no longer leads to inaccessibility on newly created MIDI tracks.
- VST Expression: When playing back in cycle mode all VST Expression commands are executed entirely.
- MediaBay: Enabling the “Align beats to project” and “Wait for project play” options no longer leads to playback issues with loops in the MediaBay previewer.
- MediaBay: Naming folders with dots no longer leads to cropped names in the result view.
- MediaBay: Deleting multiple attributes for an item no longer affects other attributes than those selected.
- MediaBay: When the preference “Scan unknown file types” is active, audio files without file extensions are now properly recognized when scanning.
- VST Bridge: VST 2 32-bit plug-ins in Cubase in 64-bit mode under Mac OS X Lion are now displayed properly.
- VST-Bridge: Under OS X certain plug-ins no longer show up as bridged even though they were updated to support 64 bit.
- Plug-in: The range scale of the Micro Tuner MIDI plug-in now reflects +/-100 Cents accurately.
- Plug-in: When using HALion Sonic SE in GM mode and exporting MIDI tracks, the resulting Standard MIDI files include all program changes.
- Plug-in: Using REVerence as an offline process plug-in now works properly.

Synth music – Music for the Mind
THE CENTURY’S ENTRANCE – This is the third song to Craig Padilla’s February 2000 “Music for the Mind” performance at the historical State Theater in Red Bluff, CA. Padilla uses a variety of older synthesizers in this performance.
Craig Padilla is an American ambient musician and film score composer, actor, and video producer from Redding, California. Since the mid-90’s he has released more than a dozen albums with music primarily inspired by the Berlin School of electronic music and space music on the labels Space For Music, Spotted Peccary Music, Lotuspike and Groove Unlimited, and contributed to numerous compilations, including a tribute album to Michael Garrison.
He also edits and produces videos for local television commercials, infomercials, corporate events, and music videos (he recently created the new video for Bruce Turgon’s and Philip Bardowell’s new collaborative project PLACES OF POWER) through his production company known as Craig Padilla Creative Video and Sound Productions.
