New kickstarter campaign: Rututu ‘Music Playground’ app
Music sample production group Earth Moments has announced the launch of a new Kickstarter campaign to fund its Rututu ‘Music Playground’ app.
Planned for release later this year, the Rututu app will offer a touch-based interface that combines “authentic, pristine” samples of indigenous ethnic, world and Western instruments, along with several bundles spanning different genres like rock, pop, hip hop, dubstep and more. Developers say that the app’s unique, custom-designed control surface and non-linear music composition tools will make it extraordinarily easy for both musicians and non-musicians to create original music.
Based around a series of recording sessions with musicians from all over the world, the library in the Rututu app will bring a variety of hard-to-obtain sounds to musicians. Rututu users will be able to incorporate the app’s sounds into both traditional and modern music, using Rututu’s loop-based composition and beat-making features.
The Rututu sounds and loops in the app will be manipulated via a custom-designed touch-based interface. Users will open a “playground” and arrange “soundpads” around the work surface. Each soundpad will offer loops and rhythms that play a variety of sounds that change depending on where they are placed in the playground. “Snapshots” of a setup can be saved and incorporated into the “trackbox” to create entire compositions. The sounds can also be manipulated using a variety of effects. The app will also feature a library of “soundscapes” for musicians, DJs or producers to create tracks.
Tracks created in the Rututu app will be share-able via Facebook or SoundCloud, directly from the app.

Alex Hilton has released A1TriggerGate a sequenced gate plugin
A1TriggerGate is a ‘Sequenced Gate’ plugin to chop up any incoming audio signal. It is a well known effect in electronic music and sometimes also known as ‘Trance Gate’ effect.
This plugin synchronizes to the host sequencer / DAW tempo. Each internal sequencer pattern consists of 4 beats / 16 steps (or 12 steps in Triplet mode). Each step length is eighter a ‘ShortStep’, ‘LongStep’, ‘StepLink’ or ‘NoStep’ and has its own step volume fader. There are 8 independent patterns that can be switched via automation.
The integrated FX (Lowpass Filter, Drive/Distortion and Echo/Delay) are designed for easy usage. There is only a minimal number of parameters to get the desired effect as fast as possible. Of course there is a ‘Global FX Off’ switch to step through all presets without hearing any of the integrated FX. Professional producers will appreciate that little feature.
In Expert Mode there a 4 pattern command tabs featuring ‘shift left/right’, ‘copy & paste, ‘random’ and ‘init’ commands eighter for the step volume values, the step lenght values or all of them. Especially the ‘random’ command on step length values gives interesting results and is a good source for inspiration.
Features:
- FREE.
- VST / AU / RTAS / AAX for MAC & PC (32 / 64-bit).
- Sequenced gate.
- 8 Patterns, 4 beats.
- Triplet mode.
- Additional internal FX (Lowpass Filter, Drive/Distortion, Echo/Delay).
- All parameters automatable.
- All parameters fully undoable (undo / redo).
- No latency.
- Resizable GUI (fully vector-based, nice on ‘retina’ displays or even very small ones)
These guys knows what an office building should look like !!
Get to work guys

Analog Monsters Roland Juno-106 does ARP SOLINA String Synthesizer!
Analog Monsters: Roland Juno-106 does
ARP SOLINA or ARP OMNI String Synthesizer!
Analog Monsters Roland Juno-106 Jupiter-8 style
Blue LEDs, Bender & Polymeter!
100% No Talking! Just pure Analog Bliss!
The Polymeter is synced to the voice board, just like a DSI synthesizer,
when a key is struck each voice lights up on the Polymeter panel!
VERY Trippy in a dark studio!!
Perfect for collectors and acid trippers!! LOL!
The Roland JUNO-106 does (In my opinion)
a GREAT STRING SYNTHESIZER emulation!
I tried to do my best making a ARP SOLINA,
ARP OMNI or ARP QUADRA string patch.
The chorus is no phaser , but I like it better on the
Roland Juno-106 dry with no chorus.
The video starts off dry with no chorus then I add chorus I & then II.
After that I show off some drone atmospheres & space EFX.
With & without the internal chorus.
This synthesizer has been modified by Allen at The Synth Spa
Full restoration, Voice Chips, Blue LED’s, Bender & Polymeter!
Custom Roland Jupiter-8 Color Style Buttons! Wood Sides!
100% Bad Ass!!!! Just priceless. No offers excepted.
This one stays in the studio forever!
New book release: The story of Sequential Circuits
The story of Sequential Circuits, the leading synthesizer manufacturer of the 1980s. One of the great American synthesizer companies, founded and led by San Francisco electronics and computer graduate, Dave Smith, Sequential Circuits Inc. paved the way for music of the future. Smith brought easy, affordable and powerful polyphonic synthesis to all levels of music production in the form of the ground-breaking Prophet-5 synthesizer. Released in 1978, the Prophet led the new wave movement into the next decade, creating a sonically exciting soundtrack to eighties culture. It expanded the palette of all music genres and was embraced by professionals and amateurs alike. Sequential Circuits went on to create further innovative concepts and products such as programmable effects, MIDI, multitimbrality, high-quality sampling, workstation and MPC systems and many more. Today the Prophet-5 is very much sought-after as one of those truly iconic classic musical instruments. The book features many exclusive and highly entertaining and informative stories from ex-Sequential staff, music industry moguls, and famous keyboard players. Includes over 240 photos and illustrations (paperback)”
by David Abernethy
Reviews:
Mark Vail, Music journalist, author, teacher, musician: ‘The story of Sequential Circuits includes thrilling successes and unfortunate demise. Thanks to Dave Smith’s contributions to electronic music, we in the industry owe him dearly. Through thorough research and by reaching out to many artists who benefited from Sequential Circuits’ instruments and Dave Smith’s work, David Abernethy delivers the essence of the story in this beautifully written and detailed book.’
Dominic Milano, Keyboard magazine writer/reviewer, editor: ‘David Abernethy has left no stone unturned in researching this incredibly detailed account of how Dave Smith and Sequential Circuits unseated Moog and ARP to become the leading synthesizer manufacturer of the 1980s. The Prophet from Silicon Valley is a must-read for synth junkies and students of musical instrument design.’
Stanley Jungleib, Sequential’s Publications Manager, Seer Systems founder: ‘Sequential was the dominant US synthesizer think-tank for a decade. David Abernethy fairly and carefully accounts for the diverse contributions of the talented lot that made it work. Anyone interested in making their career in this business should study its lessons, as many of Sequential’s graduates remain influential in the field to this day.’

This synth has no memories – Advantages
- None of the parameters or controls are quantised. So when you turn a knob, you are turning a resistor that affects a real analogue circuit.
- Because each parameter is not under solid CPU control, each parameter has that tiny analogue drift that adds so much to character.
- You are forced to be creative. No reliance on presets! Each time you make a sound you are being original.
- Quick, easy and simple to use! WYSIWYG – no nasty menus and sub-menus to change the sound.
