Image-Line has announced the release of FL Studio 9.7 Beta, the latest version of its music production software for Windows.

Keyboard workstations for gigging musicians
Music Computing’s TriggerGrid™, included with each ControlDAW, is a sample player that allows the user to trigger sampled sounds via controllers such as the ControlDAW or ControlPLAY™. Unlimited number of banks each containing sixty four (64) samples can be loaded and played. Per pad controls included: Frequency, Attack and Release, Gain, Pan and Reverse. Music Computing’s GeoMIDI™ MIDI mapping software provides an interface for changing the MIDI assignments of the ControlDAW and ControlPlay’s buttons, knobs, and sliders. Each slider or knob can send out a variety of combinations of control or pitch-bend data. An unlimited number of MIDI map presets can be created, saved and loaded for use.
SonicSource™ by Music Computing is a virtual synth (VSTi) equipped with three sample-playing layers, two multi-effect racks, and a library of multi-sampled instruments. The sample playing layers allow blending of waveforms and instruments into a wall of sound or alternatively, the use of the three multi-timbral layers as a workstation. These layers can then be further processed through SonicSource’s powerful multi-effect racks.

What’s new in ProTools 9
Avid has just released Pro Tools 9, the new version of the industry standard DAW, now packed with more features (including very cool news for post-sound guys, both LE and HD users) and also a new philosophy (yes, finally… they’re “changing”).
So.. What’s new?
- Pro Tools now works with Core Audio and ASIO drivers (no more interface limitations)
- Supports OMF/AAF/XMF
- Adds native ADC
- Adds EUCON support

More information on our forthcoming virtual instrument, Geist, to be released on November 17th 2010. The price will be $249 / £157 / €189.
It appears to be some kind of groove machine or a simplified DAW. The emphasize appears to be on sampling, re-sampling, slicing and sequencing! Perhaps they are heading for the Reason market segment??
