noteplex offers a new and unique way to create and experience music. In noteplex, you see the music happen before your eyes.
noteplex presents composers with a hexagonal board of cells on which can be placed nodes. A noteplex song begins when the first node fires a pulse. These pulses hit other nodes, which play their sounds and fire more pulses. Those new pulses hit other nodes, and so on. You’re hearing a noteplex song!

Up to four people can play together, by holding the silver parts. When the players touch each other’s skin, sounds are created.
The way this works is: When any two of the four electrodes touch, it creates a sound. The current is conducted through the players’ bodies.
The console determines where the four electrodes are in contact, and creates a different tone depending on the position.

Swan Lake UVB Style
You’ll either get what’s going on here or you’ll just think, “???”. Exciting stuff to me, perhaps to some of you as well.
I’m using the Elektron Octatrack to recreate the sound of the UVB-76 Swan Lake broadcasts. A combination of the Octatrack’s filter distortion, SSR, BRR, and Lo-Fi Dist are animated with LFOs to approximate the broadcast. The distorted harmonics that appear are as disturbing as those in the original. Expect this UVB-76 project to happen mid-2011.

Cloud Chamber Live Subatomic Sounds Demo

Computer powered ensemble of thirty pairs of shoes
LES SOULIERS is an ensemble of thirty pairs of shoes, piloted by computer and mechanically actived by “tramplers”. The shoes strikes and scrapes the floor according to a numerical score (Midi score read by the software Max / MSP).
LES SOULIERS are supported by the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, the city of Toulouse, le bbb, Bauer & Durin Réalisations and by Farnell France.
Brainwave controlled monotron

This is a brainwave controlled synth i made for a mate for his birthday. The frequency of brainwaves is sent from the sensor digitally to the base station, all I have done is mod the monotron to have a cv/gate input and added a few components to the force trainer to output a voltage determined by the brain activity sensed.
Kinect Drawable Synthesizer and the Impromptu Sound Board

You draw buttons, and they become key you can play. See the impromptu sound board video for a demonstration of drawing buttons.
Using the Kinect, I can create buttons by just drawing enclosed shapes on a piece of paper! The kinect identifies those regions as buttons that can be activated when I press them with my finger. This program uses ROS, the openni kinect drivers, and software I wrote here at MIT. You can find the code in the mit-ros-pkg repository.

Turning the subway system into an interactive string instrument
Conductor turns the New York subway system into an interactive string instrument. Using the MTA’s actual subway schedule, the piece begins in realtime by spawning trains which departed in the last minute, then continues accelerating through a 24 hour loop. The visuals are based on Massimo Vignelli’s 1972 diagram.
