The effects of Karftwerk reborn
Mode Machines has introduced the KRP-1 Krautrock Phaser, a phaser effect that uses a unique analog circuit design, based on the famous phaser used in the 1970s “Gerd Schulte Audio Technik Berlin – Compact Phasing A Number 1″.
The Krautrock Phaser is handmade in Franconia, Germany and features all discrete circuitry. The phasing amplitude is created by two lamps and 8 photo-couplers to generate a unique phasing effect.

The Krautrock phaser can be used as a guitar pedal or as a studio synthesizer processing tool. There is an input for CV pedals to control the amplitude. There is one mono 1/4″ input and two stereo 1/4″ outputs.
Famous users of the original unit include: Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Tommy Bolin.

Nullsleep live in Tokyo
“‘Pleasure Construct’ by Nullsleep, performed September 4 at Koenji High as part of the Blip Festival Tokyo concert event.
Nullsleep is the alias of Jeremiah Johnson, an electronic musician whose style could best be described as post-cyberpunk: a combination of distorted synthpop, electro, and industrial produced with repurposed low-bit electronics. His approach embraces the politics of appropriation, leveraged limitations, destructive process and data corruption. The result is a wall of digital noise driven by a heavy beat, expanding and collapsing in a series of glitches and drones emanating from cheap plastic devices. In 1999 Nullsleep cofounded 8bitpeoples, a collective of artists interested in the audio-visual aesthetics of early home computers and video game consoles. He has since released a number of recordings through 8bitpeoples, Astralwerks, Aniplex and others. Based in New York City, Nullsleep has performed over 150 shows throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including successful world tours in 2006 and 2009.

ToneBuilder has released version 1.5 of Driven Machine Drums, adding sounds from two modular systems and 6 new drum machines to the electronic drum sample library.

Quicktronic live performance
A live performance of the song “Quicktronic” featuring the Be-Bot app on the iPhone. I used to play the therimin so I get a huge kick out this app and wanted to do something with it. I’m triggerig 7 tracks of Ableton Live using the Novation Launchpad while mixing in the Be-Bot. The song has a house/broken beat feel with a twist of drilling drums. Producer Sessions this weekend
On Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of September 2010 London’s SAE will play host to Producer Sessions Live, a gathering of some of the biggest names in dance and pop music production including Freemasons, Dave Spoon, Jon Carter & Alex Blanco, Danny Byrd, and the latest addition, Hospital Records’ legend Nu:Tone.
Tickets are no longer on sale for the event online, but you can still buy tickets on the door. Some seminars still have tickets available which you can buy on the day. These videos demonstrate that it is possible to move from one keyboard to another with relative ease even though they do not share the same note layout, as explained on the above mentioned article. In fact I had never played those two keyboards at the same time before and, as you can see, their position is not particularly ergonomic, nevertheless it is feasible, at a glance, to conjure up some music. You can hear that I move back and forth from a somehow major to a somehow minor tonality.
The usefulness of this technique lies in the different spatial placement of notes the two keyboards permit. Simple phrases on one of them are usually very hard on the other one and vice versa.
