Moog Minimoog Polymoog & ARP Odyssey performed by Tubeway Army. Tubeway Army (1976–1979) was a London-based punk rock and new wave band led by lead singer Gary Numan. Tubeway Army was the first band of the post-punk era to have a synthesiser-based hit, with the single “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” and its parent album, Replicas, topping the UK Album Chart in mid 1979. Gary Numan was the driving force of the band, writing the material and producing the recordings. Subsequent albums were issued under his own name once the album Replicas became successful. Gardiner, Sharpley, and Payne continued as his backing band for some years. Gardiner died from a drug overdose in February 1984. Numan’s personal tribute to his former cohort was the song “A Child with the Ghost”, on the album Berserker (1984).

The American Synthpop/Darkwave band Bella Lune has released a new music video for their song “The Dolly Pop Song”, taken from their latest album “Synesthesia”.
The band debuted the video recently at The Batcave in Scottsdale, AZ, an event included performances by the band and Jeremiah Saint of Regenerator among others.
Exploring chaotic sound synthesis
Double Pendulum Music is an autonomous installation, nonlinearity and chaos are explored sonically (chaotic sound synthesis) and visually (chaotic motion). Establishing itself somewhere between generative composition and kinetic sculpture, the chaotic motion of a double pendulum is used as a source of uncertainty to create chaotic harmonic and rhythmic auditory events in real-time. The natural laws at work create complex aural and visual behaviour from simple interactions. As a result, the events heard and seen are never the same twice, making Double Pendulum Music a celebration of unpredictability and sensitivity.

All 6 original Jesus and Mary Chain albums to be re-released
Scottish alternative rock band will be re-releasing all of their 6 studio albums which they released between 1985 and 1998. Out by this Fall they will each see a 2CD/1DVD package treatment including B-sides, live sessions, promo videos, feature films, TV appearances and rare material. That ‘rare’ material includes a rejected early B-side, “Jesus Fuck”, and a recording of “Darklands” which includes an added string section. The reissues are out via the Edsel label which is part of the UK-based Demon Music Group.

The Jesus and Mary Chain were formed in East Kilbride, Glasgow in 1983. The band revolves around the songwriting partnership of brothers Jim and William Reid. They released a string of albums, singles and EPs between their 1983 formation and their 1999 breakup, and gained notoriety in their early days for short sets and violence that became common at their live shows. In 2007, the band reunited.

It was the question “What does a stone sound like?” that led Peter Neubäcker to the invention of Melodyne around 15 years ago.
In this interview with Maximilian Schönherr, he airs some of the secrets of Melodyne and offers insights into his thoughts and personal history. He talks about his passion for philosophy, music and mathematics as well as how guitar-making, Johannes Kepler and the science of Harmonics have influenced him. From the conversation, a fascinating 30-minute film portrait has emerged that not only shows one of the most resourceful and multi-facetted personalities in the audio industry but also the background to Celemony innovations.

Here’s AfroDJMac’s new free weekly Ableton rack featuring the fender guitar.
Here’s two instrument racks created using screeching feedback from Fender Mustang and Jag-Stang guitars, played through sea-foam green Fender Deluxe. Surprisingly, despite coming from such a loud and wild source, these racks are fairly mellow and reminiscent of a vintage keyboard. In the video, it is also shown how the racks work and take you through the effects. Also spend a little time explaining the mapping of the racks.

One of my favorite sounds is that of a distorted electric guitar as it begins to screech into blazing feedback. It’s very unpredictable, wild, and difficult to control. The overtones and harmonics it creates are hard to replicate with any other instrument. For this weeks Ableton Live Rack installment, I sampled some feedback from my Fender Mustang and Fender Jag-Stang coming out of my sea-foam green Fender Hot Rod Deluxe.
Sometimes the results are surprising when you create a sampled instrument, and this is one of those unexpected outcomes. The resulting instrument sounds more like a vintage keyboard with some rich harmonic content than a screeching guitar. Also, the actual guitar used makes quite a big difference as well, so I’ve include two racks this week, one created with the Mustang and one with the Jag-Stang. I added effects that I thought were useful to the sounds, Lo-pass Filter, Tremolo, Vibrato, Chorus, Reverb, Flanger, and just to dirty it up a bit, Vinyl distortion, which can be mix to taste. On Saturday evening Denmark experienced the most heavy rains in 500 years filling the whole city with water. The server rooms that hosts the Steelberry Clones blog were covered in 2 meters of water and 30 guys had to move the entire set up to a new location. 25.000 web pages were hit including ours, but after 48 hours we are finally back.
I am sorry if it has looked as we disappeared from the face of the earth, but happily enough your synth source is now back on track with a whole range of goodies from around cyber space.
