The KORG M01D is a music workstation based on the KORG M1 the world’s first widely known music workstation. The M1 was released in 1988 by KORG Inc., one of the most famous and leading electronic musical instrument companies. The KORG M01D reproduces the M1’s unforgettable digital sounds of the 80s such as the “M1 piano”, still heard on many songs today.
With 24 voice-polyphony, over 300 sounds and an easy to operate sequencer, the KORG M01D helps you play and create your music at any place, and at any time, in a palm-size package!
Furthermore, the KORG M01D maximizes the range of music making possibilities with the excellent functionality of the Nintendo 3DS dual screens and performs sensuous note input with the sound control mode of the touch screen. This brings the “fun” experience beyond the music workstation, for everyone from beginners to professionals.
The song data and MIDI data can be saved to an SD card so the KORG M01D can be used as a sketchpad. You can preserve all of your musical ideas which can be later converted to your DAW system for more serious music production. In addition, anyone can exchange song data using Nintendo 3DS Wi-Fi via the Internet.
Musician and composer Toby Baker on the Korg Kronos
Toby Baker is a London based Keyboardist, Musician, Composer and producer with over 30 years experience. He has recorded and toured with many artists from Europe and the US, composed for TV programmes & commercials and worked on several movie scores and trailers.
Just some of his credits include work with Michael Macdonald, Alexander O’Neal, Eric Clapton, BB King, Lulu and Sinead O’Connor.
Although he has a love of fine vintage analogue keyboards, he has been using the Korg Kronos for much of his work and his was kind enough to chat to the camera about his initial reaction to using Kronos on stage and in the studio.

Malekko Richter Megawave – 1st Riff 2013
‘djangosfire’s first actual “patch” jamming with the new Malekko – Richter “Megawave” wavetable/waveshaper module.
“I patched a Saw waveform from the “Oscillator II” into the Megawave wave shaper input. Then an “Envelator” provided a clock (for the sequencer) and nice transient patched into the Megawave CV wave select.
Output of the Megawave patched into a “Dual Borg” VCF/LPG then finally into an Echophon Delay. Also, there is a free running Tri LFO from an “Anti-Oscillator” – patched into the CV cutoff of the Dual Borg.

The Malekko/Richter Megawave is a selectable wavetable device featuring many of the available preset Wiard Miniwave ROM waveforms. Each of the ten ROM selections contains 256 waveforms. Not an oscillator, the Megawave can be used as an audio wave shaper, complex LFO function generator, stage quantizer, random function generator, non-linear waveform distortion unit, etc.
WAVE, BANK, and ROM selection are all voltage controllable and each CV input has fine control.
The Megawave wavetable device is 16hp, 35mm deep, and consumes around 90mA power.

Synton Syrinx Demo
The Syrinx is one of the few analog synths to come out of the Netherlands. It’s a monophonic lead synth in the same category as the Minimoog, Arp Odyssey, and Roland SH-7. But the Syrinx is pretty rare, only a few hundred were produced from 1983 through 1984.
The Syrinx uses seven Curtis chips for its VCO’s, VCF’s and envelopes. It has two analog VCO’s, a sub-oscillator and three flexible voltage-controlled filters. You can switch between the three filters for either a 24 dB lowpass, or two bandpass filters, and they can be patched in four different ways (series/parallel). Additionally the Syrinx has two LFO’s, FM, PWM, osc-sync, 2 ADSR envelopes, ring modulation, portamento and a cool touch-pad that can control various parameters from pitch-bending to the LFO rate. The Syrinx’s Mixer section lets you adjust levels for each VCO and the sub-osc as well as the Noise Generator and Ring Modulator. Unfortunately, being released around 1983, the Syrinx just missed out on MIDI and patch memory options. They came in a variety of flavors over the years. Most were black, but a handful were blue, red, or white. Some later models had no keyboard and were mounted in a flight-case, and a mid-nineties re-issue was a very rare rack-mount version with MIDI and external audio in.
