Curious about what the Poly-Ana guys are up to

April 9, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Curious about what the Poly-Ana guys are up to

Well here are some new stuff they are planning to release within short:

From the site description on the Poly-Ana:

I think, the Poly-Ana Controller for Admiral Quality VST Instruments will be the last Contoller this year. And it will be the „Flagship“ of my Controllers. The Controller has two Front Panels to control all the parameters of the VST Instrument. The upper and the lower Front Panel. The upper Front Panel contains the 3 Oscillators Section, the 2 Filter Section, the 2 LFO and 2 AMP Section.

The lower Front Panel contains on the left side, the 3 Envelopes, in the middle a 8“ Touchscreen and on the right side the 2 Modulation Mixer and the 2 Sample and Holds.

Also the Controller will have a 4 Octave Keyboard with Pitch and ModWheel. The Touchscreen which shows the VST Instrument is primarily use for switching, load and save the presets.

The controller will has about 226 Parameters. So i need 4 Midi Interfaces to control this Plugin.

Information from Admiral Quality Website on the Poly-Ana soft-synth:

Poly-Ana is finally here! Get ready for a new experience in virtual analog synthesis! Poly-Ana uses a different approach than most other VA soft-synths which we feel delivers a sound more authentic to the early analog synths that inspired her features. This “brute-force” method admittedly requires more processing power than other common techniques, but is a far truer model of the functioning of real analog instruments. If you obsess over the quality of your sound like we do then you won’t mind using a bit more CPU power to help get you closer to that real analog sound; a sound that so many other VA synths fall too-far short of. (Note that Poly-Ana also offers a Quality option to reduce CPU usage during performance-time at the expense of sound quality.) Poly-Ana’s voice architecture is an ambitious combination of all the best features of the famous analog classics, plus a few new features (totaling 208 controls, plus a full 5 octave velocity sensitive virtual keyboard!) which, while possible back in the day, would have been prohibitively expensive to implement in hardware. But as a software-only product, Poly-Ana doesn’t face these limitations, and we held nothing back in designing our “ultimate analog dream synth”. Combine this with a classic styled design that puts every parameter a single click away, with large, easy to grab knobs and switches that behave like the real-world items; and with no hidden drill-down menus so that each and every control is prominently displayed out where you can see it; Poly-Ana offers a true alternative in software synthesis.

Cool looking – EasyQ and EngineersFilter – free effect plug-ins for Windows

April 5, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Cool looking – EasyQ and EngineersFilter – free effect plug-ins for Windows

rs-met has released updated versions of EasyQ and EngineersFilter, two free effect plug-ins for Windows.

after some beta testing and bugfixing (thx to all who participated), it’s now done. updated versions for EasyQ and EngineersFilter have been released. for EasyQ, it’s only a maintenence update with a little bugfix related to colorscheme handling.

EngineersFilter now includes two new approximation methods: Bessel and Papoulis. The Bessel design approximates a linear phase response in its passband and the Papoulis design achieves the maximum negative slope at the cutoff frequency when a monotonically decreasing magnitude response is assumed.

EasyQ and EngineersFilter are available as freeware VST plugins for Windows.

The Glue is a high quality analog modeled plug-in based on The classic 80′s British big console buss compressor with some additional features. It uses the same high quality algorithms used in circuit simulation packages but optimised for real time use. It’s quick and easy to use and has an uncluttered interface.

Changes in The Glue v1.1.4

  • New feature: smoothed Threshold, Makeup, Range, Mix, and Sidechain HP controls so no pops, clicks, or zipper noise when adjusted from gui or automated.
  • Recent feature: linear phase high quality oversampling to support up to 12 MHz (x256) – note that x2 is recommended for Realtime and x8 is recommended for Render.
  • Recent feature: next and previous preset buttons.
  • Fixed: removed CPU spikes when drawing the graphical user interface on Mac.
  • Fixed: removed CPU spikes on first play, and when switching oversampling amounts.
  • Fixed: preset menu not showing with some hosts on PPC.
  • Fixed: reduced memory footprint with large oversampling amounts with large host buffer sizes.
  • Known issue: you cannot use both the AU and VST version at the same time in hosts that support both (eg: Ableton Live or Studio One).

The Glue is available to purchase for $99 USD. The update is free to all customers.

ValhallaRoom is a versatile, true stereo algorithmic reverb

March 24, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on ValhallaRoom is a versatile, true stereo algorithmic reverb

An algorithmic vision of perfection and precision. It’s Grade A class, Number One in its division.

ValhallaRoom is a versatile, true stereo algorithmic reverb. It features several original reverberation algorithms and has been designed from the ground up to produce a wide range of natural reverberation sounds. Sounds range from tight ambiences and rooms, through traditional hall and plate sounds, all the way up to vast modulated spaces. The algorithm designs have been influenced by some of the “classic” room simulation boxes, as well as state of the art modern theory.

* Unique Early reverb section allows user to dial in subtle and short bursts of early reverberation energy, as well as gated reverbs up to 1 second in length.

* The Late section produces natural reverb decays ranging from 0.1 seconds to 100 seconds. The decay can be controlled in 3 adjustable frequency bands.

* Both Early and Late reverb sections have adjustable modulation, to produce sounds ranging from lush chorusing, to subtle and natural long decays.

* ValhallaRoom is true stereo. The Early and Late reverb sections are both stereo-in, stereo-out. The spread of energy between the stereo channels can be controlled over time, which helps preserve the input spatial image.

* The GUI has been designed for easy navigation, and is inspired by Joseph Müller-Brockmann, NASA control panels, and Sesame Street.

* A comprehensive preset browser makes saving, recalling and sharing settings easy.

* Four original reverberation algorithms:

o Large Room – designed to emulate big rooms with a wide spatial impression, with smooth “detuning” modulation

o Medium Room – sparser than Large Room, with a more random modulation

o Bright Room – a lush, shinier-than-life reverb, with deep modulation and a somewhat slower attack

o Large Chamber – a smooth decay with consistent high echo density and subtle detuning modulation

ValhallaRoom has been designed from a psychoacoustic perspective. Instead of creating a simplified physical model of a simplified physical space, VRoom generates early and late acoustic energy that provides the spatial and phase cues needed to create an “idealized” room impression.”
