Product feature: EVE
EVE stands for Electronic Vintage Ensemble, which suggests the design philosophy behind the instrument. EVE was made to recreate in the virtual world of softsynths the exciting and immediate experience of the early age of electronics in pop, rock and jazz music from the 1960’s and 1970’s.
During this creative period in music history, many musicians started to employ the innovative sounds of the ‘electric keyboards’ which were newly available for use on stage and in the studio: Rhodes electric pianos, Hammond and Vox organs, Hohner clavinets, strings machines such as the Arp Solina string ensemble, Moog synthesizers, and all those that are now considered ‘classics’.

EVE takes these vintage sounds and this early approach to ‘electronic’ music production as a starting point, bringing this general philosophy and sound into the modern virtual environment with an intuitive and powerful interface. At the core of the EVE approach to sound design is the basic structure of 3 sample-playing layers, 2 multi-effect racks, and a selected library of multisampled ‘electric keyboards’. This enables the blending of several waveforms and instruments into a vintage wall of sound, or alternatively, the use of the 3 layers multi-timbrally as a vintage workstation. These layers can then be further processed through EVE’s powerful multi-effect racks.
EVE 2 adds several enhancements and new synthesis features to the simple yet powerful EVE design. All the original functionality and ease of use is still there, with the following changes and additions –

• The original LP resonant filter per layer in EVE has been replaced by a multimode filter (LP, HP, BP, BR) with control over cut, resonance and envelope modulation, as well as a special ‘fractal’ modulation parameter. This expanded filter design provides further tools for balanced layering of sounds, and deep pads.

• FM/AM modulation capabilities per layer have been added via the ~FM switch matrix. FM and AM can be used to add interesting harmonic distortions to the original instruments, or to manipulate new sounds from the existing samples.

• The vintage multi-effect racks have been updated, with an expanded ECHO rack, and a new overdrive effect in the MODULATOR rack, as well as various enhancements to other effects.

• New routing options between the layers and the effects allow the MODULATOR rack to function in both ‘send’ and ‘insert’ modes.
• EVE 2 now supports the loading of WusikSND SoundSets, opening up a whole range of extra sample content that can be loaded into the EVE engine. Due to synth design differences, EVE 2 does not load Wusik presets (FXP, FXB, BNK or WusikPRST files). For EVE 2 to read WusikSND SoundSets, they must be installed into the ‘EVE Data’ directory in any subfolder.
Don't want to create your own patches – Check out L'il Poly-Ana

L’il Poly-Ana offers all the same sound features as her big sister, all we’ve done is remove most of the voice editing controls to make her a preset player only. We have however left in all performance related controls, allowing you to customize your patches to your desired playing style. And we’ve also included the most popular controls for live sound tweaking, the filter cutoff and resonance controls. All fully automatable and MIDI CC controllable, just like with “big” Poly.
There’s also been an evaluation reset for both products, so even if you’ve tried them before, you can download and try them again. We offer a free, fully functional evaluation peroid for the first week, so go ahead and try them out, save and recall your work, sample the sounds, even make hit records with them — we don’t care! The 7 day free evaluation period is there for you to enjoy actually using our products in real-life production scenarios. We feel you should be able to “Try B4 Buy”, and we believe our products truly sell themselves. Our fully functional demos are there to prove it, so try ’em out!
L’il Poly-Ana contains all of the sound features and capabilities of Poly-Ana. What makes it L’il, however, is the restriction on your ability to design new patches. It almost works on the honor system, however, as Admiral Quality decided to leave in every performance control and the entire simulation control section which includes Quality (CPU), Saturator and the new Analog Drift Feature. What’s more, Admiral Quality left in the cutoff and resonance controls for both filters for live usage. L’il Poly-Ana is only available as a VST instrument. The full version includes an effect version of the plugin.
The intended L’il Poly-Ana customer is someone who does not want to create their own patches, possibly someone just beginning a venture into computer sound. However, even Poly-Ana users might find L’il Poly-Ana useful for recalling patches and saving screen space. That should be good news for Poly-Ana users because if you’re one of them, you get L’il Poly-Ana for free.

Musical adjustement
The AirEQ sound is made not only by its accurate analog matched curves: when you adjust AirEQ parameters, the variation follows your hearing sensation. The result is more natural, and you obtain the right sound and equalization setting quicker.
Musical Tool
L/R and M/S modes, display of frequencies or notes, band naming, advanced 5.1 settings, ICON mapping and many other features make AirEQ a fantastic and efficient musical tool.
High quality processing
A high end equalizer requires a high quality processing. AirEQ 5.1 uses double precision processing, to ensure the maximum audio resolution. But the AMLT technology goes further. The AirEQ curves are perfectly matched with the analog curves : it means that the equalization curves are perfectly symmetrical over the whole audio range, even at 44.1 sampling frequency, like an analog equalizer behaves. Many other digital equalizers have warped curves in the highs.
The Air Band
The Air band is a new type of filter that helps you to restore or to add brightness to the sound, while always remaining natural. It allows to gently add high frequencies, without adding harshness or unpleasant digital artefacts. The smoothness of the Air band allows to bring an instrument in front of the mix, to add a subtle brilliance to a sound or to make a vocal track breathe only by adjusting the Air amount.
More info on the new Powercore 6000
By combining TC Electronic’s System 6000 algorithms with its PowerCore platform users now get the ultimate studio tool for their DAWs. PowerCore 6000 will be available at the end of October 2008 for $3495 MSRP.
PowerCore 6000 features eight FreeScale DSP engines, the same DSPs used in System 6000, and it has an SRAM memory design that supports high performance reverbs and delays. This enables users to run famous and heralded reverbs and delay-algorithms from System 6000 with popular DAWs like Logic Pro, as well as with any other VST- and Audio Units-compatible host.
With the inclusion of the System 6000 plug-ins, PowerCore 6000 is one of the most powerful mixing and mastering solutions for DAWs available today. PowerCore 6000 includes 7 pristine plug-in algorithms, which are ported 1:1 from System 6000: VSS3 Stereo Source Reverb, Nonlin2, DVR 2 Digital Vintage Reverb MD3 Stereo Mastering, Brickwall Limiter, UnWrap stereo to 5.1 conversion and TapFactory.
Powercore 6000 includes three of TC Electronic’s best reverbs. Starting off with the VSS3 Stereo Source Reverb, a genuine and original reverb directly ported from the System 6000. NonLin2, an effects reverb which differs from the traditional natural sounding TC reverbs. NonLin2 is capable of generating compact vocal ambience; percussive and dramatic drum sounds, reverse reverbs and completely new “twisted” effects. Completing the reverb section of PowerCore 6000 is DVR 2 Digital Vintage Reverb. Careful attention was put into preserving the qualities of the original EMT250 processor, including sweet modulation, spectral balance, spaciousness and saturation. Not only is DVR2 the most precise EMT250 emulation up to now, it also emulates its predecessor in the way parameters interact for different settings.

Free plug'ins for all MAC fans out there
Blue Cat Audio has announced that they’ll be making their large plugin library available, finally, for Mac OS X.
We are happy to announce that we will be releasing Mac versions of our plugins before the end of the year. The public beta program for our free VSTs started today, while the Audio Units versions are still in work. These releases will also include updates for the PC versions.
We plan to release our freeware plugins first, and our commercial plugins will then follow, most of them being expected before Christmas. |
The first release — available now — will be a collection of the Blue Bat Audio Freeware plugs, meaning the first OS X plugin bundle will also be freeware, i.e. it’ll be downloadable at no charge.
Of course, this freeware taste is only a precursor to the “professional” plugins that Blue Cat has announced will be coming in the first quarter of 2009. “Professional” in this context means, of course, that they will be charging for them.
The Freeware Bundle will include a veritable litter of decent plugins:
- Blue Cat’s Chorus
- Blue Cat’s Digital Peak Meter
- Blue Cat’s Flanger
- Blue Cat’s FreqAnalyst
- Blue Cat’s Gain Suite
- Blue Cat’s Phaser
- Blue Cat’s Stereo Chorus
- Blue Cat’s Stereo Flanger
- Blue Cat’s Triple EQ
Not too bad I would say – go get it here >>
This is a really cool plug-in

My new EBM bass favourite VST :-D
Also used by Nitzer Ebb this VST really does the job
EGOkILLER uses a double-dose Phase Distortion Oscillator in place of the standard oscillator/filter set-up. It is a very powerful form of synthesis first seen in Casio’s CZ synths in the ’80’s. The PD Oscillators have a very full sound that gives this synth great character. It is designed for EBM/Industrial music but is versatile enough to be used anywhere.
EGOkILLERversion2 is the first of the Version 2 synths. Like the original it is based on a single Phase Distortion Oscillator. The new version features a dual High Pass – Low Pass filter set-up with resonance, as well as graphical envelopes for both modulation and VCA. The LFO is new and extra flexibility has been added to modulation routings. It also includes really fat Unison and an enhanced overdrive.
And make sure to look out for the new one, scheduled to be released soon
GODkILLERversion2 is a versatile V/A synth, laid out in a similar manner to EGOkILLERv2. It improves on the original with two oscillators with sync and Hard Sync. The mixable Low-pass and Band Reject Filters are carried over from the original. It also has two graphical ADSR envelopes and a comprehensive LFO featuring 16 different waveforms. Overdrive and LFO destinations can be controlled by a Modulation Wheel on a MIDI keyboard controller.

We are happy to announce that we will be releasing Mac versions of our plugins before the end of the year. The public beta program for our free VSTs started today, while the Audio Units versions are still in work. These releases will also include updates for the PC versions.
