This is one of the finest pieces of music ever written. It’s very cinematic and I was kinda bored on a friday night, so I decided to just make my own version of it.
It’s featuring the Minimoog model D, which has some trouble staying in tune, especially on the high notes. The Juno-60 on the chords. I ran the last half of it through this old tape deck, so you kinda get this rough tape hiss and distortion.
I was kinda inspired by this arrangement of another song.

Creative delay effect
Ditto is a creative delay effect, using randomised tempo-sync modulation to provide a constantly changing but musical delay effect. You can randomise the delay time, feedback and filter cut-off, with independent left and right channel modulation if you wish. Reverse delay can also be randomly set to change things up even more.
All delay times are tempo-synced to your host, with up to 6 different selections that can be randomly selected. The randomisation is also set to change in tempo-sync, so the results always sound musical and rhythmic (unless you don’t want that, there are some unusual sync patterns too).
You can use ditto for subtle variances in repeating patterns, constantly evolving soundscapes or just some good old random craziness. It is very suited to drum patterns and rhythmic / percussive loops, but is also great on pads, leads, basses and just about anything you’d like to randomise for effect.

Only at MusikMesse you may sometimes encounter a manufacturer of analog synthesizers focusing solely on buttons and knobs. The Challenger ‘a device with four oscillators, two filters, two way audio and panel-style recliner Minimoog. The price, once in the marketing of the series, should be very interesting. Appears to have been designed by Hans-Joachim Helmstedt and to be a boutique synthesizer now under development
Electronic music pioneer: Morton Subotnik
In its early days, electronic music wasn’t very musical. Painstakingly put together with wave generators or tiny bits of tape spliced together on splicing blocks by music professors and hobbyists, it was often highly abstract, largely concerned with pitch and timbre, and lacked much rhythm or pattern. Enter Morton Subotnick. Back in the sixties, while Robert Moog was developing his pioneering keyboard on the East Coast, Subotnick, Ramon Sender and Don Buchla were toiling away in San Francisco on what would become possibly the world’s first analog synthesizer, the ‘electronic music easel’ BUCHLA 100. Instead of a keyboard, it relied on pressure sensitive touch-plates, which controlled individually tuneable keys for limitless micro-tuning possibilities, analog sequencers, and complex waveforms beyond your basic sine, sawtooth, and square waves. You can now find it at the Smithsonian.

Detunized has released DTS024 – Phase Facets, a comprehensive Live Pack featuring the German Hohner HS2/E synthesizer from 1988.
The Hohner HS2/E and it´s Japanese original, the Casio VZ10m, are the last hardware synths working with „interactive Phase Distortion“ synthesis. The iPD was meant as an effort to deliver sounds comparable to those of FM synthesis while its results are easier to predict. IPD is capable of producing wonderful „non-filter“ and „non-substractive“ tones with sharp attacks and digital precision.
The 650 MB Live Pack „Phase Facets“ contains a diversified collection of such iPD sounds that must be categorized far beyond the standard Bass and Lead libraries. With their rich harmonic content and agile brightness the 30 included Live Instruments enrich each Live Library with some 80s retro charme.

Black Eyed Peas – secrets on stage
Black Eyed Peas Musical Director Printz Board takes us on a secret tour of his keyboard lair onstage during BEP’s 2010 E.N.D. Tour. He discusses keyboard setup (including a Novation, Moog, Roland Juno-G, and Yamaha Motif), mixer, stereo monitors, bass amp, trumpet, and all of the extra bells and whistles. He’s got a talk-back mic to communicate to Eric Harris during the show, the monitor engineers, or the whole crew in their in-ears. He also has a little TV screen that shows him any angle of the stage, and he can alert whomever necessary about potential problems, so that each cue happens at the right time and the show goes smoothly from song to song.
