A bit of a Klonky techno jam using the amazing Bugbrand system, all sounds and sequences provided by the modular, no midi or external fx. Bit of a rough mix, so sorry about that.

Q-Bert, Ean Golden Jam + Brand New Midi-Fighter!

May 1, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Q-Bert, Ean Golden Jam + Brand New Midi-Fighter!

DJ Tech Tools’ Ean Golden plans to announce new versions of the MIDI Fighter DJ controller next week. These are two of four new models we will be announcing in the next week. They are replacing our “custom” midi-fighters with four dedicated layouts we have found to be the most popular. Designed to be high performance instruments, all are paired with mappings for specific controllersim use cases and built in robust metal cases that can survive weekly tours and serious abuse.

I made a visit down to the QSU, Q-Bert’s online scratch university, last weekend to play around a little bit and explore the possibility of playing a show together. We practiced for about an hour, improvising and cutting it up in a much more relaxed setting than our last rendezvous here at DJTT headquarters. The guys hit record on a camera and the clip above is one of the improv gems that emerged from our session. The drumming in the background is from our resident drum teacher Ryan, who covered timing techniques for us a few months back. Continue reading for photos, one more clip and more info on my controllers in the video.

PSP oldTimer is a vintage-style compressor designed for track and program compression and limiting. Our goal in developing this plug-in is to provide a simple compressor that offers an exceptionally musical sound while requiring a minimum of tweaking. This plug-in is not based on any specific hardware, rather it is inspired by vintage circuits and is designed to emulate some favorite characteristics of such compressors.

PSP oldTimer is so simple and so easy to use, that it’s difficult to make it sound bad even at extreme settings!
This compressor offers soft and smooth compression in most applications, however it may slightly color the sound with its tube emulation on transients when heavily driven internally by high Compression values.

Features:

  • High quality signal processing algorithms
  • All internal processing done with 64 bit double precision floats.
  • 32 and 64 bit floating point audio streams supported
  • ZERO samples OF latency

Rumors: Apple preparing to introduce Sandy Bridge iMacs early next week

May 1, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Rumors: Apple preparing to introduce Sandy Bridge iMacs early next week

Here is what has been reported by e.g. Apple Insider – Apple as early as next week will deliver a much-needed refresh to its iMac line of all-in-one desktops, adopting Intel’s newest family of Core processors and the latest in personal computing I/O technology

More specifically, people familiar with the matter say Apple plans to introduce the new models on Tuesday, May 3, swapping out the systems’ first-gen Core i processors and miniDisplay ports for second-generation Core i chips and the company’s new high-speed Thunderbolt port. However, rumors that 2011 would see changes to the iMacs’ display panel size  and the inclusion of 6000-series AMD Radeon HD chips, could not be confirmed with any degree of certainty.

In the days leading up to major product launches, Apple routinely makes certain requests of its various operating segments to assure the rollout goes as smoothly as possible. This week saw several of those measures put into place, according to those same people, who’ve continually provided accurate information when it comes the Mac maker’s future plans.

In addition, people familiar with the Cupertino-based company’s retail operations confirmed to AppleInsider that a “visual night” is similarly slated for the early morning hours of May 3rd. “So it is highly likely that whatever new product that is going to be refreshed or introduced will be done on [that day],” one of those people said.

Buchla 222e Basic Programming

“This is a very, very rough hand-held flipcam video tutorial of just the most basic programming of a few pitches on three touchplates. Be sure to pause the video to check all the knob and light settings. Sorry for the blurring readout of the 223e window but my verbal explanation covers it all. And, yes, I do have a moment of verbal dyslexia and call the 259e the 295e, ugh. Hope this helps.”
