Nice demo featuring the Octatrack:
Loaded up the Octatrack with some loops and hits. Everything but the main drum loop is from either the Buchla 200e or old recordings from when I had a eurocrack system. TResonator goes from subtle to downright nasty as I test my limiters. Check your ears and your levels on this one. Slider P-Locks the drum track delays for the pseudo Karplus-Strong sounds.

“A guy suggested one could have quite fun with just three modules of Modcan, the 3VCO, the Dual Multimode Filter and the Quad Envelope. This thanks to the amplitude input on the 3VCO which in fact works like a VCA for that module. Works like a charm and packs quite some punch into very little panel space! In fact, if you go for a rack space system, you can fit two more modules into one row. This will definitely get you started though!”

The Roland TB-303 Bass Line is a bass synthesizer with built-in sequencer manufactured by the Roland corporation from late 1981 to 1984 that had a defining role in the development of contemporary electronic music.
The TB-303 (short for “Transistorized Bass”) was originally marketed to guitarists for bass accompaniment while practising alone. Production lasted approximately 18 months, resulting in only 10,000 units. It was not until the mid- to late-1980s that DJs and electronic musicians in Chicago found a use for the machine in the context of the newly developing house music genre.
In the late ’80s and early 90’s, as new Acid styles emerged, the TB-303 was often overdriven, producing a harsher or acid-like sound. Examples of this technique include Charanjit Singh’s 1982 Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat,[2] Phuture’s 1987 “Acid Tracks” (sometimes known as “Acid Trax”), Hardfloor’s 1992 EP “Acperience” and Interlect 3000’s 1993 EP “Volcano”.
The well-known “acid” sound is typically produced by playing a repeating note pattern on the TB-303, while altering the filter’s cutoff frequency, resonance, and envelope modulation. The TB-303’s accent control modifies a note’s volume, filter resonance, and envelope modulation, allowing further variations in timbre. A distortion effect, either by using a guitar effects pedal or overdriving the input of an audio mixer, is commonly used to give the TB-303 a denser, noisier timbre—as the resulting sound is much richer in harmonics.
The head designer of the TB-303, Tadao Kikumoto, was also responsible for leading design of the TR-909 drum machine. In 2011, The Guardian listed the 1981 release of the TB-303 as one of the 50 key events in the history of dance music
Vintage synth demo – Split Eight in action
Around 1983-84 Sequential Circuits, in order to break into the Japanese market, shipped the Curtis SENTE (CEM 3394) chip and the firmware for the Sequential Six-Trak to an other Japanese manufacturer. It was their plan to have that that manufactuer design a synthesizer more targeted at the Japanese buyer. This Japanese company created an 8-voice bi-timbral version of the Six-Trak. They added a 5-octave, 61-note (C-C) keyboard to it and sold it in Japan, calling it the Pro-8. Sequential, liking what the Japanese manufacturer had done with their design and worrying that they might market their synth with one of their competitors (ie. Korg), asked for some design changes and a name change, and sold the Japanese-made synth as the Split-8.
The Split 8 makes for a very nice programmable polyphonic analog synthesizer with complete MIDI implementation. With 8 voices and 8 oscillators (Curtis 3394 SENTE chips) the Split 8 is a heavy contender against the Roland Juno-106! However programming the synth, while straight forward and intuitive, is limited to adjusting one parameter at a time assigned to one Data knob. This limits performance ability but is no problem during studio use.
The keyboard features splits and layers, all of which can be saved with patch data. Choose between 8 voice polyphony with 1 oscillator per voice, 4 voice polyphony with dual oscillators per voice, 2 voice polyphony with a mega 4 oscillators per voice, or the unison mode which is just a fat 8-voice solo mode for trance bass and lead heaven! Similar to the Juno-106, the Split-8 uses a Chorus effect to liven up the sounds. Sonically the Split-8 sounds much ‘thinner’ than a Roland Juno-106, however this ‘thin’ sound is characteristic of Sequential and is quite nice.

“Bernadette” features 5 versions of the title track including a version were frontman Chris Corner will sing in German. The single will be released digitally on July 29th.
Coinside with the release of the single, a music video for the song will be released. Directed by Fabian Röttger.

KORG Kaossilator performing Aerodynamic
If you’re a fan of Daft Punk and the Korg Kaossilator, then you’ll probably like this. This is the first time I’ve ever tried playing the thing with TWO HANDS and a pencil. It’s quite tricky.
Anyway, I know the riff isn’t EXACTLY the same as the original, but that’s only because there isn’t a scale setting on the Kaossilator which can do it in one go (I know, I tried them all).

A cool analog monophonic/polyphonic from Korg. It has 4 VCO’s which can be shared in 4-voice Polyphonic mode, or linked in Unison for a versatile monophonic lead. Each VCO has its own level, tune, and waveform type control. Waveforms include triangle, sawtooth, variable pulse wave. It has a great VCF filter section as well as 2 envelope generators (one for the oscillators and one for the filter). There are also 2 individual LFO’s which can be used to modulate the Pulse Width, envelope and Arpeggiator independently.
A very flexible and fun synth. Other cool tricks up its sleeve include chord memory and an effects mode in which oscillators have a variety of ways to be synced. The built-in arpeggiator and sequencer can run all 4 VCO’s at a time or cycle through each voice per note! There’s also portamento, CV/Gate, VCF and VCO mod inputs, white noise generator, and the pitch/mod wheels can be assigned to control LFO, pitch or the filter. Its sound quality is nice and very Korg.
Karmic Creation using electronic wind instruments
