The Mix out is just a nice clean, buffered mix of your 2 Attenuatable Inputs and the Line Input.
The Speaker Out is normalled to the speaker in case you want to drive a bigger cab, or plug your pretty little headphones in, or capture the tone after the amplifier. If you plug in, the speaker cuts out, but the master will still control the volume. Handy for live performance.
and really, if you want a nice clean sound, just dial back the levels a little bit!!!

Leap Motion with Traktor: First Attempt
Exploring the idea of using the Leap Motion, along with the GECO gestural MIDI app, as a DJ controller for Traktor. DJ SelArom is not using the Leap Motion as a replacement for a traditional DJ controller, but to augment it with new gestural controls, more info below:
I recently got the Leap Motion Controller, and here is the first attempt to use it mixing live. Still getting used to doing this without flailing around like an idiot, but it’s definitely a lot more fun that it looks!

New stuff from Moby: The Perfect Life Rooftop Acoustic Teaser
“The Perfect Life” is the brand new single from Moby, featuring Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips. The video for the “The Perfect Life” was shot in L.A with Coyne and Moby dressed as Mariachis. The video will be premiered on September 3.
Moby comments on the collaboration with Coyne: “Wayne Coyne and I ended up doing a duet on ‘The Perfect Life’: we sing the choruses together, and then go back and forth on the verses. Wayne and I first met in 1995, when The Flaming Lips and I were both opening up for a Red Hot Chili Peppers’ European tour. We became friends, shared a dressing room and the same bad craft services, and watched the Chili Peppers from the side of the stage. I thought of Wayne for this song because The Flaming Lips have evolved in this very open, celebratory band when they play live, and that was the perfect vibe for what I was imagining for ‘The Perfect Life.’ I texted Wayne and said, ‘Hey, I have a song – want to sing on it?’ Thirty seconds later, he texted me back: ‘Yes, send it to me, it will be great.”
The single is taken from Moby’s new upcoming album “Innocents” which was produced by Mark ‘Spike’ Stent. Next to Wayne Coyne (The Flaming Lips) the album also features Mark Lanegan, Cold Specks, Skylar Grey, indie-folk singer Damien Jurado, and Inyang Bassey who was the vocalist on “The Right Thing” from Destroyed.
VL-1 Micro Jam – Royalty Free Electonica
This track was created using a Step Sister, a Casio VL-1, Ibanez DM500 delay and an Inkel MX880E Mixer, details below:
Using the DM500 and the inkel mixer i was able to create a wide delay effect by running the DM500’s normal and inverted outputs into the mixer separately and hard panning and EQing them. Interestingly this technique isn’t mono compatible though so if you’re listening on a phone or tablet you won’t hear any of the delay due to phase cancellation trickery :O Another quicky this one as i’ve been too busy to do my weekly upload so i’m trying to catchup!
Right, so here’s the idea. Trying to write, upload and give away a fresh piece of music on a roughly weekly basis. Will i be able to keep it up? Will i run out of ideas? Can i be bothered? How shoddy will they be? Does anybody care? God knows. But that’s the point.
Basically the idea is to flex my musical muscles a bit. I have collected quite a bit of gear over the years and not much of it is getting used as much as i’d like, so this is my attempt to justify all those purchases whilst practising improving and getting ideas down fast as an antidote to procrastination. “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” as Picasso once said.
Royalty free for you to use for whatever under the creative commons license. Just rip the audio out of the video for now, i’ll get these tracks uploaded to a dropbox account when i get my act together. Let me know if you use it, i’d be stoked.
