SpaceLab Synth Review // IOS iPad
An overview, sound examples and review of SpaceLab v1.0.1 for iPad.
SpaceLab is a monophonic synthesizer. It has four ways to play: keyboard, graph, guitar, and wind controller. Underneath those interfaces is a fully programmable subtractive synth with oscillators, filters, envelopes, effects, FM, presets, an arpeggiator, full MIDI control, and much more!
Closer look at the Addictive Synth Version 2
Addictive Synth – Wavetable Synthesis meets Noise
The new spectral noise generator adds a new dimension to the already huge sound universe of Addictive Synth. This generator is the first of its kind and allows for extraordinarily detailed control over the dynamic spectrum of the noisy part of sounds. Despite its complexity it’s pretty easy to use and integrates naturally into the sound design philosophy of Addictive Synth.
With the integration of a hi end reverb we closed the last gap to get fully addicted.
One more thing…
…the revised GUI is now compatible to the retina display of the new iPad !
Qneo – Voice Synth 2.0 : Audio Demo

WorldScales – New synth focusing on tuning for the iPad
Kelfar Technologies has released a new software synthesizer for the iPad, WorldScales:
Have you ever wondered why we tune our instruments the way we do?
They are usually tuned to an “equal-tempered scale”, which divides the octave into equally spaced tones and semitones. This has become the most prevalent way of tuning the instruments in the west since the 18th Century. Today, musicians use this tuning system, and the scales based on it, without ever considering other ways.
For example, in the Middle Ages European musicians generally used Pythagorean tuning, and today many traditional instruments in the Middle East and Asia are tuned according to regional systems and standards.
Features:
- Ability to tune each key in the octave individually (+- 100 cents).
- 18 High quality sampled instruments: From grand piano, violin and organ to oriental oud and kanun, to voices of a choir singing Ison voices. Many samples are polyphonic and have multiple velocity layers.
- MIDI In. Connect your External MIDI keyboard and play microtonal music.
- Many presets, introducing lesser known western, byzantine and oriental scales.
- Ability to save your own scales and tunings.
- Entering directly frequency ratios, frequencies or cents.
- Shows on the piano keys where the scale starts and what keys are included in the scale.
- Changing the root key of a scale: all tuned keys are shifted correctly.
- Audio effects: reverb and compressor.
It’s available now in the App Store.

More interesting though is perhaps to read the comments to this video, and I must say I am tempted to agree:
Doesn’t sound like a Polychrome to me. What was used for reference? Seriously. Maybe one of the demo tracks features something a bit like the choir section. Osc sync – what? How about recreating the paraphonic envelope? Isolate each section for a demo. If it’s good, the sound itself will sell it alone – not polished tracks with other instruments. Where’s the chorus ensemble effect – the phaser – tremolo? All hallmarks. Couldn’t hear any attempt at that.
This video shows the Farfisa Polychrome played with a Roland DEP-5 FX processor for delay effects.
The Farfisa Polychrome from 1979 is one of the rarest Farfisa keyboards. It is a flexible string synthesizer / string ensemble with a very characterful, musical sound.
It has a PERCUSSIVE section, a STRING section, a ENSEMBLE section and a VOCAL CHORUS section. The most sections have VCF cutoff / resonance controls. It has a great phaser (with SPEED, EMPHASIS and TREMOLO controls), a noise generator, single outputs, an external input jack (for external signals, which can be treated with the Polychrome’s chorus and phaser) and a lot more… It even has aftertouch! And it’s fully polyphonic, too…
