Korg Announces New Line-up of Sound Libraries for Kronos Workstation
Korg is pleased to announce the availability of many diverse expansion libraries and sample sound libraries for the Korg Kronos Music Workstation, including the EXs13 Jazz Drums Expansion Kit, the EXs11 Legendary Strings Expansion Library, and two series by KARO, a sound design team based in Germany who has been producing high-quality sounds for Korg workstations for several years (including the OASYS and the M3). Korg welcomes KARO as the first third-party KRONOS sound developer.
EXs13 Jazz Drums Expansion Kit
This expansion kit for the Jazz Ambience Drums is included in the Korg Kronos presets, and contains approximately 1GB of PCM samples, 48 programs and 12 drumkits. The unique collection focuses on unique drum and percussion sounds created using a variety of techniques including mallets, brushes, and multi-rods. All sounds are easy to use, and will set off other instruments to their maximum advantage. Substituting these sounds on an existing drum track will also offer a dramatic difference through changing stick sounds.
EXs11 Legendary Strings
This collection delivers approximately 2.5GB of PCM samples and 128 Programs, for a wide vocabulary of string sounds. Choose from solo performances created on coveted instruments such as a Stradivarius, to the sound of a full orchestra. In addition to samples of individual performance techniques such as trill, vibrato, and pizzicato, the collection also includes ensembles offering differing numbers of players, providing everything needed for meticulous production work. Large samples allow the nuances of the performances to be captured, completing this ultimate collection of string sounds.

KARO’s EXs Expansion Sample Series libraries span a wide variety of instruments and genres, including orchestral instruments and ensembles, vintage keyboards, ambient soundscapes, and much more. Along with Programs, Combis, and Drum Track patterns, these libraries include varying amounts of PCM data, which is played back directly from KRONOS’ internal solid state hard drive.
KARO’s KRS Professional Sound Series libraries are collections of Programs, Combis, and Drum Track patterns that collectively take advantage of every synthesis engine within KRONOS. These large collections of synthesizer sounds, organs, dance grooves, and Wave Sequences each have at least 128 Programs; most have much more.

Wurlie is a 64 keys Wurlitzer 206A piano, and as the Wurlitzer company named it, a “Student Electronic Piano”.
The 206A is a student model, and is very similar to a 200A except for its beige color and built in amp/speaker (it also did not come with a tremolo). It was designed to be paired with a 206, which is the teacher model and they were mainly used in conservatories. The teacher had a headphone and microphone to be able to listen to each student individually and talk to them without others hearing them.
Chropolis – new sound library for Ableton Live
Detunized has announced Chropolis, a sound library for Ableton Live.
Chropolis brings another facet of early eighties flair to your snuggery. The Pack contains a rich collection of more than 30 instruments that capture the spirit of the Rhodes Chroma Polaris.
The original 1984 RCP combines analog sound with precise and reproducable digital control. The heart of the RCP is an 80186 microprocessor while his buddy Curtis does what this synthesizer makes sounding so great.
The Live Pack instruments come with precisely adjusted parameters on the macros. In addition the main devices in each chain are kept open. This way instant tweaking is absolutely easy-going.

Introducing the BASE Pack for Animoog
The BASE Pack is born from a quest Moog engineers embarked on with help from researchers at The University of North Carolina at Asheville to discover the most primordial sounds known to man. The result is the Biomimetically Augmented Synthesis Expansion Pack (BASE Pack) for the Animoog synthesizer. The BASE Pack is a collection of timbres and presets that radically extends the sonic capabilities of Animoog from the purely electronic realm of its Moog ancestry into a richly organic world of biological sound.
In addition to the over 40 new Timbre files, Moog recruited top sound designers to craft 25 powerful new presets which demonstrate the range of BASE sounds that Animoog can now emit. Some of the Presets included are Extravasation, Eructations, Bad Beans, Bathtub Bubbles, and Oops Sorry Excuse Me. Some of the Timbres included are Sploot2, WetGas1, Dribbly, WetSquish2 and Excuse Me.
Animoog is available for the iPad, iPhone 4, and iPod Touch in the iTunes Store. Animoog version 1.0.2 includes the new “Animoog Store” where users can purchase new Timbres and presets from within the app itself. The BASE Pack is only the first in a series of wide-ranging, boundary-pushing sonic updates to come.

Cluster Sound has announced Vintage Techno DAT, a true vintage multi-format sound library based on original DAT tape recordings dated 1996.
Vintage Techno DAT is a huge loop collection extracted from personal DAT tape recordings dated 1996 and created by a young Antonio Dilillo, the man behind Cluster Sound.
The library consists of 1.2 Gigabytes of remastered basslines, synth loops, percussions, noises, effected kicks, HHats, snares and everithing you need to add a retro look to your techno tracks.

Background : the 1996 was a very exciting year. Techno music passed beyond the “old school” era and producers diffusely started creating complex sounds, emotional athmospheres and rich structures. In that period the modern meaning of computer music was at its early stage and everyone tried to do his best with the few instruments at his disposal. The result took the form of hundreds of innovative labels (Primate, Soma, Nova Mute, Evolution, Plus8, just to mention few) that laid the fundations of modern techno music.
The source : The original loops and sequences had been created with several hardware synthesizers, drum machines and by sampling vinyls and radio signals. All the loops were initially sampled, edited and processed with a glorious Creamware TripleBOARD, the first “Hard Disk Recording” system for PC, and then recorded on a Tascam DA-20 (basically used as storage medium because of the small hard disc capacity).

BUT, it is a lot more than that and the only way to show you is for you to check the demo….Featuring WOBBLE and WAVER effects, 3 levels of SATURATION, LOW END DRIVING, WIDENING and BOUNCE….
The idea behind L.E.W.D was to create an aesthetically and fully functional low end bass and kick module that would have the type of controls that I selfishly wanted. Ease of use and ‘fun’ were the main criteria for developing this product.
To be able to dynamically affect every layer on the fly appealed to me greatly.
Chaining specific effects and dynamics into single function knobs and dials not only makes it easy to run deep edits on the go but it makes for a much more pleasing approach to sound design. Additionally, the whole concept of making everything simple and beautiful gave me an insight into how to design a functioning GUI whilst maintaining control. The decision to chain and condense effects and dynamics into single functions was made to help beginners and intermediates understand and utilize commonly desired processes.
The real power of L.E.W.D lies in the layering process. Each kick and sine layer has been meticulously processed to layer both in tune and harmonically with each other. Using phase cancellation, polarity inversion and M/S, specific frequencies have been dug out and others enriched so that when applying heavy overdriving and saturation effects the results are both genuine unique.

Low Beats Clipbox is a powerful and ultra-flexible collection of sliced clips for Ableton Live, specifically designed for electronic and tech-based music productions. The library consists of 195 Clips, 240 deep samples organized in 6 drum Kits with dedicated macro controls and 12 extra synthesizers created by looping and tuning percussive elements. This Live Pack is basically dedicated to electronic low beats but thanks to the powerful effect modules you can easily create unusual Snares, Hats, Kicks, Glitches and several pseudo-drum elements.Sliced Loops : The included Clips has been extracted from 195 WAV loops carefully selected from Cluster Sound catalog. Each Clip consists of an Instrument Rack, created by slicing and key mapping the original WAV file, bundled with a MIDI loop that triggers each slice.
