Defective Records has updated Software Klee Step Sequencer to version 2.1.0.

- On Windows, clicking anywhere in application activates window, not just title bar.

Virtual Piano Library Comparison – what to buy
This is the first in a series of demos of Grand Piano/Upright Piano/Elec Piano/Organ Libraries. I have assembled here a collection of Yamaha pianos, all demoed with the same MIDI file, “Grand Illusion” by Jordan Rudess. This song always impressed me with its incredible dynamic range, and I thought it a great clip to display the power of a Grand Piano. I selected this clip because of how it demonstrates the full range of dynamics across nearly the entire keyboard.

New James Bond synth from Waldorf
Waldorf Music continues their James Bond naming theme with the announcement of their new software vocoder Lector.
They describe Lector as follows:
“Robot voices, whispering strings, talking drum loops, rhythmic pads, the resonant ringing of bells, dripping water – the possibilities are all but infinite. With a quick tweak here and there, the Lector turns any incoming signal into novel sounds and effects. Tremendously versatile, the Lector puts in your hands a sonic toolset for a wide range of diverse applications. Just about anything goes, from distorting the human voice to adding subtle harmonies to lead vocals and getting creative with movie soundtracks.
The analysis filter bank splits the incoming audio signal into as many as 100 frequency bands, the intensity of which modulates the volume levels of an equal number of band-pass filters in the synthesis filter bank. The integrated 16-voice synthesizer or an external source provides the input signal for the synthesis filter bank. This lets you do fun things like apply a melody line or chord sequence to articulate vocals or speech.”

Web based KORG imitation
Angry Octopus released the Webotribe an online version of the soon to be released Monotribe from Korg. Check it out it works and functions just like the real thing. While your at it he also has a version of the Monotron, a 4 operator FM synth, a Nord Lead Synth1, and many more to keep you busy and have some good clean synth fun. Korg is again conspiring to use up all my free time by creating an updated version of the Monotron with a built in sequencer/drum machine. There was no way I was going to be able to resist attempting a web version of this and so here it is: The graphics took longer than I thought so the synth is pretty un-optimised and doesn’t sound any better than my Webotron. The drums are way off and it’s probably missing a lot of functionality but there should be enough to give you an idea of what the real thing is capable of.
