Time to sum up the past ten years and list the 20 best / most important electronic, electro, EBM and synth albums that has been released. This is of course a tricky quest and will most likely create some debate. Numerous of good albums has been released and I have certainly not listened to all of them, but still someone needs to make a statement :-). The albums are listed in order of importance, but may not be absolute, in the sense that – if they are rated as number 6, they could easily be argued to have place number 7 instead etc, but still…

Time for a short review of the five different acts at the 2009 ElectriXmas event. VNV was the main act for this years event and they fulfilled their promises and the crowd was cheerful as ever :-). Sorry about the sound quality, filmed with my cell phone
Impressive performance from a small newcomer duo
Lousy singer and boring Depeche wanna be songs
Great act, best of the show this year
OK, but boring
Good show, but not up to par with what one is used to, perhaps it mattered that they were a bit drunk…
Within short I will post a full review of last week’s ElectriXmas party where among others; VNV Nation, Aestethic Perfection and Rotersand performed, so stay tuned. Till than myself and DEVO give you some Xmas spirit.
Finally the “real” bands are starting to appear for this year’s event
Good going, can we hope for Covenant, Welle, AndOne or Mellotron to top it off?
Stereoklang has put together a page dedicated to synthpop nostalgica. The page will be filled over time with things like; what synthesizers did Kraftwerk use in this or this video/gig etc.
In the mean time check out some of the uploaded synthpop wallpapers that has been gathered around the web and if you have any of those orginal artists you would like to submit we are more than welcome to upload them as well, e.g. YMO, Logic System, Yazoo, Welle:Erdball, JM Jarre etc
Come to think of it I seem to have a tendency to write on artists rather than gear on Fridays, guess it must be because I am entering a stage of party mode
And that´s why its nice to give some news (well I am certainly not the first to bring this out on the web, but what the heck) on one of my fav EBM acts:
VNV Nation, new album on the way
It has been confirmed that the next VNV Nation album “Reformation” is on the way. The finishing touch is all that remain.
Here some news from the band:
PLANS FOR 2009 : We hope you all had a good time over the holiday period. We finished 2008 on a high note at the Neuwerk Festival in Berlin. When an audience sings that loud and shows such unity and euphoria, you know it’s a special night. So, what’s coming in 2009? During the last months of 2008 we were extremely busy making plans and we promise a busy year with lots happening. Firstly, the long awaited Reformation CD Pack will be released (finally, and yes, we said “pack”). Work on the next VNV Nation album “Of Faith, Power and Glory”, is well underway. There will also be European and North American Tours this year. We are also planning a lot of special releases for our fans but more on that in the coming months.
….than check out this guys. A couple of really nice tracks and an excellent debut album was released last year.
