March 25, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Free Pitch-Correction plug-in that works as a VST effect

KeroVee is a free Pitch-Correction plug-in that works as a VST effect. It can pitch-detect and retune to specified scales or MIDI notes. ‘Bypass’ and ‘SubTone’ mix are also available.

New in v1.27

  • BugFix: In some HOST (especially Audacity), some noise is generated if invoke KeroVee twice or later.

Features:

  • Scale Buttons ‘C’ to ‘B’ specify the ‘Allowed’ note.
  • Speed: Tuning Speed. Maybe robotic if set to ’100=MAX’.
  • TuneTo (If both are enabled the MIDI note gets priority. But scale tuning is effective after notes are “offed”):
    – MIDI: Enable Tuning to MIDI notes.
    – Scale: Enable Tuning to specified scales by scale buttons.
  • Calib: Maste1r tuning 430Hz to 450Hz. The default is 440Hz.
  • Output:
    – Bal LR balance of output.
    – Vol Output level.
  • Mix:
    – Bypass Original sound mix level.
    – SubTone -1 Octave of tuned sound mix level.
    – Tuned Tuned sound mix level.

Rack Performer – modular host for Windows

February 24, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Rack Performer – modular host for Windows

Abeem Live Technologies has released version 0.96-alpha of Rack Performer, a modular host for Windows.

In this new version we mostly focused on the feedback we got, and the most important fixes revolve around VST support and VST scanner improvements. Application is now way more stable and usable.

We still managed to add new features and this time the Keyboard Mapper got pimped up and is now completely functional, including all submap types, new simplified mapping types (control focus vs action keys) and a brand new configuration dialog to select layout and numeric pad mode.

Module Control Focus has also been improved with the addition of Keyboard Control Focus, making it bi-directional: keyboard follows global module control focus, but keyboard can also change focused module or focused parameter.

Under the hood, there are new global control ports for Scene Snapshots, Virtual Screens and Audio Monitor, meaning all those parameters can be mapped (MIDI, keyboard..) like any other parameter in the patch.

Rack Performer 0.96-alpha for Windows is available to download for registered users (registration is free).

VTI is a VST plugin designed to control Sound Font samples using incoming audio. The audio source could be voice, flute, whistling or any other monophonic instrument.

Voice To Instrument features

  • Low latency, could be used for live performances.
  • Precise pitch detection including slides.

Voice To Instrument for Windows (VST) is available to download as donationware. The free download is fully functional and non-expiring, but it will display a nag-screen.

Free plug-ins from Soundhack

February 22, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Free plug-ins from Soundhack

Soundhack’s Tom Erbe has released new versions of all of his plugins for Mac, in Audio Unit and VST forms.

The free plugins include:

  • +spectralcompand – Performs smooth timbral filtering. Can be used to tame resonant frequencies or for radical changes of tone. In expansion mode, +spectralcompand becomes a highly tunable broadband noise remover, capable of removing hiss, hum and machine noise, without damaging the original sound.
  • +morphfilter – Holds two filter shapes. These shapes are set by drawing, or by capturing the spectra from the incoming sound. You can morph between these two filters. +morphfilter’s depth control can change the strength of filtering, or even invert the filter for an “anti-filtered” sound.
  • +binaural – This filter places a sound at a specific position around the listener’s head. Use it with a reverb to create a virtual environment. When used with it’s LFO, +binaural can place various beats or parts of a loop in specific repeatable positions.
  • +spectralgate – A spectral version of the noise gate/ducker dynamics processor. Combines a noise gate/ducker and a multiband processor to give you a plugin that can used both as a frequency dependent gate or as a level dependent filter.
  • SoundHack Delay Trio – a group of three plugins derived from the same basic delay algorithm: a hermite interpolated delay line with variable modulation, and a feedback loop with dc blocking and saturation. Pitch shifting is achieved with a dual head crossfading delay (ala Eltro Tempophon/Dennis Gabor/Pierre Schaeffer phonogene) and is decidedly low-?. The saturating feedback also allows them to be great drone and noise generators.
  • +chebyshev – a distortion unit which uses various low-order chebyshev polynomials to add even or odd harmonic distortion.
  • +compand – a combined compressor/expander plugin. It has a softknee control as well as a switchable rms/peak level detector.
  • +decimate – bit depth and sample rate reduction for added aliasing and decimation noise. a very noisy plugin.
  • +matrix – a mid-side to left-right encoder and decoder. for mid-side microphone arrays, but also useful when needing to apply effects to only the center or the sides of a stereo mix.
  • +phasescope – the standard studio tool for seeing the phase relation between your left and right channels. also includes a bit meter.

Multidelay effect tailored for ambient music

February 20, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Multidelay effect tailored for ambient music

Xoxos has released Amboea VST plug-in for Windows which they tell us arranges eight filtered stereo delay lines in serial or parallel with algorithmic crossfading to create a multidelay effect tailored for ambient music.

Twenty algorithms allow the crossfading and filters to be applied before or after the delay lines with optional randomised modulation and pitchshifting. Xoxos says that one instance of Amboea can turn any sound into a dense, continuously varying soundscape, or be used as a straightforward multitap or parallel multidelay.

Pricing and Availability:
Amboea has an introductory price of $10 which will increase to $15
