Free – X*ONE is a virtual monophonic synthesizer
X*ONE is a virtual monophonic synthesizer with one oscillator, one modulator, and one 12dB lowpass filter. Although the design is similar to Alterex’s ViCON the sound of this module is described as “phatter”. This basic unit has some tricks up its sleeve and is one of the core parts of Alterex’s X*PAND VSTi – that will be released next year.
Features:
- Modulator: low frequency oscillator and envelope generator (tempo synced).
- Oscillator: saw, square waveform and manual pulse width control.
- Filter: 12 dB lowpass filter with dedicated envelope modulator.
Arracis Gold VSTi Synthesizer – free download version
Arracis Gold VSTi Synthesizer’s most significant feature is the 4 x 8 osc step sequencer with adjustable gatelength + modulation on gatelength. With this step sequencer you can have a quite rhythmical output incl short blips (stepping among the oscillators in selectable sequence) plus mixing to the normal (steady) output signal for vivid Pad or Athmos. Thus it is easy to get really fascinating sounds even at the oscillator section only. In addition the 2 inbuilt filters provide further means for tweaking. Finally at the output section there is Spook fx and two delays in series incl. pan modulation for delay and direct out for stunning spatial movement in stereo. You might be amazed about the sophisticated sounds being possible with this easy to access synthesizer.
Arracis Gold features
- 4 PCM wave oscillators with 384 waves in 3 banks with mixable output in groups of 2.
- (User wave & SF2 files can be loaded too into each osc slot).
- 4 x 8 osc step sequencer with various settings incl. gatelength, hard/soft knob etc.
- Mixable output of stepped and normal (steady) osc signals incl modulation.
- 1 24 dB resonant LP filter with ADSR EG and Modulation.
- 1 12 dB resonant HP filter with ADSR EG and Modulation.
- Filter bypass + modulation.
- 1 Bass Enhance.
- 1 Spook Fx.
- 2 Delays in series.
- 3 Pan (direct, delay 1 and delay 2) incl. modulation.
- 6 LFO + 1 S&H as mod sources.
- 6 Lazy Buttons (use ‘All’ for limitless patch switching ;-).
- 10 voices.
- Key Velocity on Amp, LP & HP Cut, and Filter bypass.
Arracis Gold Pro is available as a VST instrument plug-in for Windows PC for 29 EUR.
A free version is available for download. It differs from the Pro version in that it has only 128 waves per oscillator, three voices, sf2 and wave load for osc 1 & 2.

Thor CZ Refill is here!

The Thor Polysonic Synthesizer is not only an incredible tool for new and inventive sound design but also remains faithful to classic synths with its ability to accurately emulate vintage equipment of the past. In this particular refill we take focus of Thor’s ability to create authentic Casio CZ patches through its phase distortion ocillator. The refill contains 96 patches in Thor and Combinator instruments, 4 tutorial/template files and a document discussing the CZ architecture and approach to emulation within Thor. For those who have owned one of the CZ-101/1000 synthesizers will appreciate the first 16 patches of this refill which are almost identical to the factory presets that shipped with the original units.

Introducing

Thanks to White Crow for allowing us to present the community with the free refill. This is a great refill that nearly emulates the full range of the Yamaha CS-01. By taking the raw waveforms of the original unit and assigning combinator controls to modulate ASDR and filter combinatinos you basicaly have a full functioning CS-01. At almost 42MB it find a nice place in your refill library. Enjoy!
Puremagnetik Waveframe
Waveframe is a an advanced wavetable synthesizer designed exclusively for the features of Ableton Live. Based on the Ensoniq Fizmo, Waveframe contains over 1700 wavetable samples, over 30 waveform Live Racks and a generous selection of performance patches.

Reaper updated
Cockos has updated REAPER to v3.12.
REAPER (Rapid Environment for Audio Prototyping and Efficient Recording) is designed for the recording, arrangement, editing, mixing and rendering of audio.
Changes:
* Automation lanes: fixed possible crash when removing FX parameter envelopes.
* CD burning: fixes to native XP mode track divisions.
* Extensions API: GetSetMediaItemInfo() fixes for fade shape settings.
* Fade drawing: when using full-area filling, fixed drawing when zoomed in.
* FX: per-FX buggy plugin compatibility mode (assumes plugin is not threadsafe, needs constant precleaned buffers, etc.).
* Hardware outputs: post-fader track outputs obey track polarity control.
* MIDI editor: show notes pressed as long as the input note is pressed.
* OSX: improved drag/drop support.
* OSX: support for control+alt+drag to render to new file (drag to desktop, finder, sampler, etc.).
* OSX: CD burning support.
* OSX: REX support.
* OSX: special casing for POD Farm VST misreporting view type (VST 2.4 should be composited view).
* OSX: fix for some AUs that do not export automatable parameters until after audio streams are initialized.
* OSX: added correct file locking to prevent writing files open for read.
* Pencil mode: fixed fade/autofade settings for newly drawn media items.
* ReaControlMIDI: support for raw mode (0-127 access to all CC messages).
* ReaControlMIDI: envelopes and TCP knobs report the same value as the slider (0-127, 0-16383, or on/off).
* ReaControlMIDI: support for storing/sending sysex dumps up to 64KB.
* ReaScript: run Python or Perl scripts that call Reaper API functions.
* ReaScript: assign reascripts to key commands or toolbar buttons.
* VST bridging: optimized plug-ins that call for tempo information.
* VST bridging/firewalling: per plug-in option to embed UI (not as compatible, less crash-resilient).
* VST: safer querying of text strings from certain plug-ins.
* Win32: async file reading now has more grace on error.
* Win32: file locking improvements (no longer allow writing to media files that are open and online in REAPER, etc.).
* x64: VST bridging performance improvements, ReaRoute performance improvements.
* x64: will now use same config path as x86 (unless appdata/REAPER64 is valid).
* x64: REX support (via bridging).
* x64: fix for certain (broken) ASIO drivers.
Can you get enough Chipsounds?
As you’ve understood we at Steelberry Clones have soft spot for chip music. To recreate all those glitches and bleeps in a state-of-the-art environment the guys at Plogue has made a new softsynth called Chipsounds that should be the ultimate emulator. It covers close emulations of Ataris (home computer and arcade), Commodore (C64 and VIC20), BBC, ZX and more….
We’ll keep you updated when it’s released.
The secret behind Siftables
Siftables are cookie-sized computers with motion sensing, neighbor detection, graphical display, and wireless communication. They act in concert to form a single interface: users physically manipulate them – piling, grouping, sorting – to interact with digital information and media. Siftables provides a new platform on which to implement tangible, visual and mobile applications.
Check out the video below:

There are three “voices” – lead, bass and drums. Each voice has four variations, accessible via the four sides of the siftable. You can also apply reverb, filter, volume and tempo changes.
Not to forget a pretty cool song too
