Dating back to the telegraph days delay/echo has take a long time to perfect electronically and is still being perfected and worked on. A quick read but very interesting and makes you relish when you stomp on your favorite delay pedal !

Sun audio experimenting
Sun Boxes is a sound installation consisting of 20 speakers, independently operating. For those of you who have not seen it on the many other sites who showed this: each speaker has a built-in solar panel and contains a guitar sample.
The speakers are spread around so visitors can enter the installation to enjoy the ever changing composition from various sides. The installation, created by Craig Colorusso is completely solar powered and the music stops when the sun sets. A great way of showing we can create beautiful things only using natural resources.

New album from highly acclaimed Zoo System
Finally the new album from Zoo System is released on Stereoklang.
Zoo System is an experimental electro act founded in 2006. Exploring the boarders between ambient and electro the band has successfully released songs that triggers your dreams of space, remote and dark places. Subtle and playful rhythms of voices, machines, noise and metallic beats has become the trademark of this underground band.

Pixelpussy releases new stuff
Southern California DJ and producer Daemon Chadeau will release This Is Meower Noise, the debut album from his Pixelpussy power noise project, June 25 on the MoonSlave Radio label. In addition to eight original tracks, the album features five remixes from the likes of ESA, Bioassay and Code 000. Visit the links for more information and sample tracks.

Is it just me thinking of the Pirates of the Carribean?
Boutique synth maker AtomoSynth has released The Krakken – a MIDI-controled analog synthesizer module.
The Krakken synth offers a MIDI-to-control-voltage converter, an analog VCO, noise generator, a VCF, an LFO and an envelope generator.
You can control analog gear with The Krakken’s CV outputs, and you can also use other analog gear to control The Krakken.
It is expected to be available by the first of July, 2010.
Here are the details:
AtomoSynth “Krakken”
- VCO: This synth features one analog square and saw waveform VCO (voltage controled oscillator) with a huge pitch range, from subsonic to ultrasonic sound.
- Glide: effect control with a wide range that allows radical effects.
- White noise generator with 2 modes:
- Mode1 triggers the VCO affecting the frequency and can create percussion like sounds.
- Mode2 mix the noise with the VCO signal, adding texture to the waveform.
- LFO: One square and triangle waveform LFO (low frequency oscillator), that modulates the VCO for the vibrato effect creating old school arcade Atari-like sounds.
- Also it modulates the VCF (voltage controled filter) creating a tremolo effect.
- It has a led that shows the LFO rate.
- VCF: (vactrol based Low Pass Filter) with cut off and ressonance controls that can be modulated by the LFO and the VCO depth, It also features a decay control with 3 modes: positive, flat, and negative.
- envelope generator with attack and release control.
- The Krakken features a MIDI to control voltage converter with a range of 5 octaves, it can be set to any midi channel from 1 to 16, it has a display that shows the actual midi channel.
- You can control any external analog synthesizer with the CV and Gate Outputs (1Volt/octave), even at the same time you can control the Krakken with an analog sequencer via the CV and Gate inputs.
- Also you can connect many Krakken synthesizers in chain with its midi thru output to a computer or midi sequencer and each one will play a different midi channel.
- The instrument is is housed in a clear, laser cut, acrilic case that shows the analog circuitry.
- It is powered directly from 110V or 220V AC.
Sunday synth eye candy
Access Music has announced their latest “special edition” keyboard, “The WhiteOut Keyboard” limited edition, which will only be produced as 150 units with laser engraved serial number. If your favorite Virus Ti is the Polar edition, but you always wanted a “bigger” model, now you can get one (if you hurry).
According to the company, “White metal, wood and aluminum are the main ingredients for the WhiteOut’s signature look. Perform with a Virus TI WhiteOut and you can be assured that your presence on stage will not fade into the background.”
The technical specifications are identical to the Virus Ti Keyboard 2009, the color scheme of the housing does differ as you can see (see photo).
This is the second part of the Virus TI WhiteOut limited edition. The first part was a white Virus TI Desktop which we’ve released around Christmas. All units sold in a day.
In the U.S., dealers like Sweetwater, and NovaMusik are taking pre-orders, with a street price of $2999. Although the non-white “normal” models can sell below MAP pricing, you likely won’t get as much of a discount on the Whiteout edition unless you have an existing sales relationship with your music dealer.
I had a Ti Polar (first version) and sold it to buy the rack mount/desktop model. I have missed the Polar ever since. This new 61-key model is even cooler (no pun intended), since there is plenty of room on top for a PC keyboard, Korg pad and external knob controller, etc. Gorgeous!
