This is part 1 of Everything is a Remix, a work-in-progress documentary, by filmmaker Kirby Ferguson, that looks at contextualizing the art and artlessness of remixing.
Remixing is a folk art but the techniques involved — collecting material, combining it, transforming it — are the same ones used at any level of creation.

Well he is not a ninja after all…
Just “slightly” of topic, hehe, but I just had to share this with you:
Apple this morning debunked a juicy rumor that Steve Jobs vowed never to visit Japan again after security guards forced him to throw away ninja stars that he attempted to carry onto his private jet.
The rumor was first published by Japanese tabloid SPA! Magazine and reiterated by Bloomberg, who quoted a spokesman confirming that a passenger was stopped at the end of July for carrying shuriken.
However, Apple in a statement suggested that the CEO is not a ninja after all.
“Steve did visit Japan this summer for a vacation in Kyoto, but the incidents described at the airport are pure fiction,” Apple told All Things Digital. “Steve had a great time and hopes to visit Japan again soon.”
Good old Telefunken mics
Telefunken Elektroakustik in South Windsor, Conn., is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the ELA M 250/251, 250E/251E, and 270 microphones with exclusive commemorative system package, featuring leather-bound flight cases that bear an embroidered 50th anniversary logo, and a cable stand-mount bearing the same gold diamond badge as found on the original models.
The ELA M 250/251 models include the extremely rare AC701 vacuum tube, while the E Series and stereo model feature the 6072a tube. “We are including extra NOS tubes for the 250E/251E and 270 systems so that these mics will be good for another 50 years,” says Toni Fishman, president and founder of Telefunken Elektroakustik. The company states that due to the extremely rare nature of the AC701 tube, extras will not be provided for the ELA M 250/251 system, while adding that it will keep a large private stock for its customers for future warranty service and repair needs.
Telefunken Elektroakustik states that these 50th anniversary editions will ship through the end of 2011.

NLog MIDI Synth – a new iOS app that they describe as “The first synth app making your IOS device a real synth playable with MIDI hardware.”
NLog MIDI Synth is based on NLog synth, an existing iOS synth, with added support for the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer. The developer announced Sept 10th that they had been approved by Line 6 and that the app was being submitted to Apple.

Brandon Daniel has posted this video where his making a dubstep song using the modular
Dubstep track I’m working on, getting the big modular synth involved. The bass tone is actually Nord Modular G2, but being processed through the modular, drums are 808 + some other stuff… hopefully will finish the track in the next couple weeks.
Stockhausen and white noise
A video featuring Stockhausen performing the noise based Song of the Children, via Collhouse
Karl-Heinz Stockhausen’s 1956 piece ‘Gesang Der Junglinge’ (Song of the Children) analysed song verses into their elementary phonetic components and deployed electronically generated aperiodic sound – more commonly known as ‘white noise’.
The Disabled Avant-Garde also generate white noise in this piece by varying the syne-waves produced by a loudly whistling boiling kettle. As with Stockhausen, a vocalist intones ‘inside’ the white noise (but using a different song – something by Roy Orbison).
The total effect produced is to provide the listener with no idea whatsoever of what it must sound like to be profoundly deaf
