Shadow Bureau becomes more then a hobby to Bon Harris
The Shadow Bureau is a new project from Nitzer Ebb’s Bon Harris and A Matter Gray’s Jeehun Hwang. What at first started off as compositions for several indie films has since taken on a life of its own, featuring collaborations with the likes of Wolfgang Flür (Kraftwerk), Curt Smith (Tears For Fears) and Isabelle Erkendal (Peaches, West End Girls).
The band’s 2-track single “Don’t Give Yourself Away” is now available for listening on the band’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/theshadowbureau. The title track “Don’t Give Yourself Away” features Tears For Fears’ Curt Smith on vocals while the B-side “Axis Of Envy” features Wolfgang Flür (ex-Kraftwerk).

Wasserklang Modulsystem
“Wasserklang Modulsystem” is a water powered multichannel sound installation.
A big water wheel in the forge of Berlin’s Technikmuseum drives eight mechanical music boxes, each playing a different song. They are connected by a several hundred meter long rope which makes a zig-zag course through the little forest and alongside the rail track.
The installation was produced by La belle Imira and Niklas Roy for Berlin’s Museum Night 2011.

Audio d-touch is a collection of applications for real-time musical composition and performance, with very special user interfaces. The collection includes a drum machine and a sampling sequencer, both are controlled by spatially arranging physical objects on an interactive table surface. Each object represents a sound, and its position with respect to the surface is mapped to certain playback parameters. For example, the horizontal position of an object represents the timing of the sound. The system is extremely low cost and now it can be freely and fully downloaded from http://www.d-touch.org/audio. All is needed to get audio d-touch to work is a standard computer (PC or Mac) with a webcam and a printer.

This is a preview of an upcoming polychord release. In this video, we’re using polychord (BETA) as a MIDI keyboard for nLog Pro (BETA) — all on one iPad, all without any cables. App makers are starting to work together to make all of your iOS music apps play nicely with each other through virtual MIDI. This is still experimental, and it will be a little while until app makers optimize their apps for multitasking, and enable virtual MIDI. It’s very exciting and clearly the future of iOS music making.
