Introducing the Archangel – analog step sequencer
![[Archangel Image]](http://www.det3.net/images/a12/aa-prodimg1-450.jpg)
Archangel at its core is a 4-row 16-step analog sequencer with integrated 16-pad touchplate controller. The layout of the sequencer allows for instant access to every function available. Archangel can be its own timing master as well as slave to MIDI, DIN sync or an external clock pulse. The sequence length can be set from 1 to 16 stages, and step size can be adjusted from 1/32nd note to two bars. To speed composition and improvisation Archangel has an integrated multi-scale quantizer.
Control
The sequencer has five direction modes and three integrated sequential switches. There are two 2:1 switches on the top and bottom pair of rows as well as a single 4:1 switch for all 4 rows. Altering the step size and number of steps per row does not take effect until the start of the next pattern. The Archangel sequencer can free-run or operate in one-shot mode, which will stop when the pattern reaches the last step. The pattern can be restarted with the start/stop button, the external stage 1 gate, or via the touchplate keyboard.
As well as operating as a standard sequencer, Archangel can be played with the touchplate keyboard. Each sequencer stage will be activated when the corresponding key is touched. Each touchplate key is both pressure and position sensitive, giving 2D control of any parameter in your synthesizer system. Finally, there is an external CV addressing input that allows Archangel to be used as either a CV-controlled sequencer or a low-frequency step-based waveshaper.
Wii Nunchuck controlled Korg Monotron synthesizer
This is nice – Wii Nunchuck controlled Korg Monotron synthesizer:
My second attempt in circuit bending the monotron. You can control the monotron with Nunchuk’s accelerometer and analog stick. I used todbot’s WiiChuck adaptor to connect the Nunchuk to the Arduino. http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9281
The WiiChuck Adapter is a small PCB that is designed to be inserted into the connector of a Nintendo Wii Nunchuck to provide access to all 4 wires of the remote. The power, ground and two-wire interface of the Nunchuck are all broken out to a 4-pin 0.1″ pitch header.
New analog challenger to the microMOOG
This is a demo of the Helmtronic Challenger – a new retro-style analog synthesizer.
Only at the MusikMesse you have the opportunity to meet with a manufacturer of analog synthesizers all buttons and knobs. Challenger and equipment with four oscillators, two filters, dual audio path and panel-style recliner Minimoog. The price, once reached the marketing of the series, should be very interesting.
Free frequency shifter and analog echo emulation

Here’s what Valhalla DSP has to say about the ValhallaFreqEcho…
Bode-style frequency shifter + analog echo emulation = skull melting chaos. Perfect for dub, Dr. Who and all of your psychedelic needs. Sonic results range from subtle chorusing and double tracking to barberpole phasing and flanging to endless glissandos and runaway echos. I get lost in this one.
Features
- New GUI
- New Tempo Sync Delay
- New Mouse-over Tooltips
- Low cut and high cut controls for the feedback path, allowing for finer control over the echo decay.
- Mono/stereo in, stereo out.

Mot-Box

Kinetic Labs has introduced Mot-Box – a sound generator built for musicians and sound designers.
According to developers, “It’s capable to produce sounds from drones to helter-skelter noises.”

“Analog Signature” Version 2:
“Analog Signature V2” carries the wits and powers of three vintage beasts into this new era. Moog Source, Korg MS20 and the Waldorf Microwave have been accurately sampled (every single note three times) in such a way that their charming inaccuracies are still there in this perfect Reason environment in which we took our chance to add polyphony and velocity. You’ll get 460 combinator patches containing beautiful analog sounds from the past as well as some mouth watering rex loops covering the old analog drum boxes. You decide how retro or contemporary the sounds of this refill will sound in your music. It all matches almost perfectly with almost everything. Version 2 adds new samples from the Waldorf Microwave 1, 40 new combinator patches, great new backdrops and some minor tweaks.
“Analog Signature” Contents:
– Classic synths: Moog Source, Korg MS20 and the Waldorf Microwave 1.
– 460 combinator patches to keep you busy for quite some time – 40 new ones since version 2.
– Lots of analog drumbox rexfiles and loads of NNXT patches.
– Extra high realism due to alternate sample switching, mostly three samples per note!
– 10 songfiles showing you lots of tricks and ideas.
Introducing Drone Lab

The Drone Lab is a 4 voice analog drone synth, rhythm generator and FX processor. It is capable of generating rich, textured soundscapes, hypnotic drones and complex rhythmic sequences. It features a series of filter and distortions circuits as well as an audio input jack. This allows it to be used as an effects processor for external audio signals.
Building a Drone Lab
The Drone Lab is being sold as a kit as well as in finished form.
Detailed build instructions will be posted here soon.
You’re welcome to buy the PCB and parts from us or build it all from scratch.
The Drone Lab plans are completely open source and available below. We encourage others to use and adapt the plans as they like.
Synthex, Morphex and Graphex

The Synthex analog synth and sound effects generator gives you all the “full-force, knob-turning analog power” you could want in a little red box. The driving element of Synthex is a VCO that outputs square and triangle waveforms. It also has two external audio inputs for creating hard sync and FM effects; dedicated crossfaders for controlling the Mix and Levels; and a switch for reconfiguring the internal signal path.
Likewise, the Morphex is monster-green, hybrid analog synth and effect unit that takes any two line-level sounds and morphs between them in “beautiful and bizarre” ways. It’s ideal for creating distorted and warped sounds.
The Graphex, on the other hand, is a dynamic gating and rhythm effect ideal for creating and manipulating “trance-gate” patterns, 303-style accents, drum loop edits, and stutter effects. The blue-hued unit performs all chopping and gating actions in real-time.
