Modular synthesizers: Serge Creature TGO Demo
As there didn’t seem to be too many basic demo’s of Serge modulars, ‘pjoris2’ tries here to document his discoveries of Serge. He’ll start with the most recommended “starter” M-class pannel: the Creature; and more specifically with the basic noisemaker in there: the Voltage-Controlled Timegen Oscillator (TGO). All noises are made with +/- only the TGO. X-Fader used as output, and sometimes the SSG als LFO. An overview of the video:
Basic Functions of the Left Oscillator (Osc 1)

(05:00) Depending on the relative settings of Osc 1 & 2, the frequency of Osc 2 is now controlled by Osc 1. We can vary now Rise & Fall without changing the pitch of the Osc 2 output.

Using Right Section as Filter
(06:00) Plug in saw of Osc 1 in the lower Sig In (black jack). The Rise pot changes filter cutoff. The Fall pot only makes signal more quiet.

(12:00) Certainly if you take the modulation into audio frequencies !

Time machine: Roland Juno-60 Analog Synthesizer (1982)

The Roland Juno-60 is a popular analogue 61-key polyphonic synthesizer introduced by Roland Corporation in 1982 and a successor to the slightly earlier Juno-6. Like its predecessor, the Juno-60 has some digital enhancements, used only for clocking the oscillators and for saving and loading patches. This instrument was succeeded by the Roland Juno-106 in 1984.
Roland was losing market share with the Juno-6 in competition against the Korg Polysix. Related in features and price-class, the Polysix featured external control and patch memory, which the Juno-6 lacked. These features were quickly added to the Juno-6’s design, which sonically and architecturally did not change notably between the two versions, and then released as the Juno-60.

For me is the Juno-60 one of the best analog synthesizers ever. The bass and pad sounds are much better as from the big brother Jupiter-8. One of my Top 5 synths.

Demo of the Korg Electribe ES-1, EM-1, and Novation DrumStation
This demo includes the Korg ES-1 sampler, Korg EM-1 workstation, and Novation DrumStation drum synth. The EM-1 is sequencing the DrumStation, the DrumStation is doing it’s own sort of 909 impression, and the ES-1 is playing back the sample (Cathy Dennis “Touch Me”, sampled off the 12″ single and pitched down). The ES-1 is also functioning as an effects unit with it’s audio in being connected to an effects send on my mixer. The reverb is an Electro Harmonix Holy Stain.
