Multi-effects unit for Reaktor

September 14, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Multi-effects unit for Reaktor

TWISTED TOOLS have released a brand new mutli-effects unit for Native Instruments’ Reaktor 5, complete with a 346mb sample library by notable producers such as Richard Devine, D’arcangelo, Mike Huckaby and more.

Buffeater is a real-time, dynamically ordered, granular multi-effect for all versions of Reaktor 5. The effect works by capturing live audio and storing it in a temporary buffer, which allows for real-time processing of the incoming audio using granular synthesis and other methods. In plain terms, Buffeater allows you take live audio and tweak elements of the sound such as time and pitch, while controlling he signal flow of the effects by the order in which you play. With Buffeater, you can easily achieve stutters, glitch, beat repeat/juggling and/or chopped and screwed effects.

The six effects in included are:

Stretch : A granular time and pitch stretching effect. You can use this effect to slow down (stretch) your audio and even freeze it, while still maintaing control over the audio’s pitch.

Tape : A varispeed type effect that allows you to slow down/speed up effect while also altering its pitch. This is similar to the effect you get when speeding up or slowing down a tape.

Slice Repeat: Allows you to repeat fragments of incoming audio and even re-order them on the fly. You can also adjust the speed and direction of the playback of the slices.

Deconstruct: Takes slices of incoming audio and randomly rearranges them in time and can also reverse them. This effect is similar to Slice Repeat, except that it is more random and also features a ‘slide’ setting that causes audio to glide between slices.

Scratch: Classic turntable style scratch effects, similar to what a DJ does with vinyl or cdjs. This allows you to play with time rhythmically with results that sound like ‘scratching’.

Feed Grains: Feed Grains is a granular feedback effect, that is great for creating spatial effects similar to reverb and also to create similar effects to ring modulation. This is a unique effect that really has no comparison that we know of. Try it and experiment.

Buffeater Features:
* 6 realtime granular and buffer effects
* Playable via MIDI
* Advanced internal automation system
* Independent automation speed and length per knob
* Effect signal flow is dynamically re-ordered as you play
* 288 FX Presets and 60 Snapshots (Combos)
* Kore and Maschine Templates
* Time-stretching sample playback system
* 346mb Sample Library
* Sounds by: c2, Richard Devine, EVAC, Glitchmachines, Josh Hinden, Mike Huckaby, Haptic, Komposit, Rena Jones and Tembu (Bay Dawgz)

The Vocalizer has now been released

September 4, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on The Vocalizer has now been released

I have reported on the Vocalizer before but now we have gotten some more info on it. If you have tried it already let us know what you think.

VOCALIZER is a completely new concept in modern music production that couples a new technology synthesis engine with an open input based architecture. VOCALIZER is one part effect plugin and one part virtual instrument. Vocalists, non-vocalists, & producers feed VOCALIZER any audio source, and it re-pitches, effects, and re-synthesizes the original source into a whole new sound.

Primarily designed for vocal use, vocalists will enjoy the vast options afforded by VOCALIZER to add previously unattainable dimensions to their voice. Inversely, non-vocalists will enjoy the opportunity to use their voices in musical ways that they previously thought impossible.

VOCALIZER also works well with other types of inputs. Drum & percussion tracks fed through VOCALIZER result in complex synth lines that perfectly sync to the original dry drum & percussion parts. Other input sounds afford a powerful and flexible new approach to sound design. VOCALIZER users can take any sound and use it as a shaping tool to be VOCALIZED.

The VOCALIZER marks the first release from SONiVOX’s NEMESYNTH Audio Research Group. Spearheaded by noted audio guru and scientist Jim Van Buskirk, pioneer inventor of the virtual instrument, modern computer driven sampling, and real-time low-latency convolution, SONiVOX’s NEMESYNTH Audio Research Group’s sole purpose is to discover, research, & develop revolutionary new enabling technologies for musicians everywhere.

VOCALIZER – Vocal Production Synthesizer is MAC & PC compatible and will work with most major DAW software as a VST, AU, and RTAS plugin.

VOCALIZER – Vocal Production Synthesizer is slated for a release date of October 1st 2010 with a MSRP of $149.99 and an estimated street price of $99.99

SONiVOX claims that VOCALIZER must be heard to be believed and invites all to checkout the VOCALIZER videos and mp3 examples at www.sonivoxmi.com

REVIEW: Filter Research 2 from Nucleus Soundlab

September 2, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on REVIEW: Filter Research 2 from Nucleus Soundlab

Nucleus Soundlab is in my mind a solid provider of highly crafted refills for the Propellerhead Reason suite. With refills like Pantheon I and II and Synthetic Kits in their portfolio, as well as with my experience with their predecessor Filter Research I, I was pretty intrigued to see how it had evolved.

To start of I would like to remind you that FR 1 and 2 are not by any means your traditional refill with predefined loops, pads, keys, bass and lead sounds – it is actually quite empty of any sounds, instead you are provided with the tools to uniquely tailor your sounds with effects hardly imaginable for the “standard” Reason user. Basically what Nucleus are doing is that they are cramming every inch out of the Reason rack to give you an amazing toolbox of high quality sequenced effects with inbuilt patterns.

Something that triggered me the most and is probably one of the main reasons I would strongly recommend this refill is the way Nucleus has been able to add delays that are far richer than what most skilled Reason users what be able to produce themselves as well as the envelope-followed distortion, and spectral processors.

In my work I have come across a number of excellent VSTs focused on adding that specific touch to your music, let it be reverbs, filters, delays, distortion devices etc, and pretty much optimized towards that one objective. With FR 2 you will definitely get a short cut to adding that extra dimension to your music and with the added MIDI support you are free to experiment. I can say that FR 2 is a strength indicator of Nucleus, but equally well an indicator of Reason as a key software in your music production. I am really looking forward to see what Nucleus will come up with for Reason 5.

Details:

Filter Research 2 features

  • 200+ Combinators included.
  • PDF manual describing each Combinator.
  • New more detailed manual format.
  • 5 Epic Combinators – including video documentation.
  • All Combinators created from scratch.
  • Each Combinator has all 4 rotaries/buttons uniquely assigned.
  • Requires Reason 4+ either standalone or together with Record.

Filter Research 2 is available to purchase as a download for $59 USD. For 30 days, Nucleus SoundLab customers and newsletter subscribers can purchase for only $49 USD.

The effect section of Cromina String Machine

August 3, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on The effect section of Cromina String Machine

WOK has release CromFX, the effect section of Cromina String Machine as separate plug-in with enhanced options. You can select from 4 different chorus types (modeled after vintage circuits), 3 phaser models and 2 delays. Here’s what WOK has to say…

CromFX is the perfect addon for our string machine, but can of course add brightness and warmth to any sound source. In the chorus section you will find the lush and warm chorus of Cromina plus 3 more variations, modeled after famous designs from Korg™ and Roland™.

For the phaser we added 2 more designs which support host sync, as the two delays (one additional analog tape style delay) do.

CromFX is available as a VST plugin for Windows.

Plektron unveils WTComp

July 30, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Plektron unveils WTComp

Plektron unveils WTComp, a FREE analogue tube compressor VSTeffect for Windows.

It’s based on the parallel compression’s technique that maximize the output signal rather than destroy the sound’s dynamic. The tube simulation makes the sound warm and load without distortion.

“WTComp is an analogue tube compressor.
It distinguish itself from a common compressor due to its simple use. The only thing you have to do is just to set the warm-level (compression) instead of going crazy with dozen of parameters! The internal structure is very advanced, including an intelligent audio-clip system. Ideal for mastering and single tracks, but most importantly it is FREEWARE.” Plektron
