NR2010, a free virtual synthesizer instrument plug-in
GTG Synths has announced the release of NR2010, a free virtual synthesizer instrument plug-in for Windows.
Made mainly for personal use. A good old analog polysynth with a 24dB filter, snappy envelopes and nice mod effects. My personal workhorse-synth free for all soon.
NR2010 is available to download as a freeware VST instrument for Windows PC.
GTG Synths has also announced it will stop the development of the GTG Synths series.
It has been big fun developing VST Synths for the music fraternity. I am pleased to have been able to provide a fair share of user satisfaction and credibility on both custom synths and serial synths despite having not fully met all ”emulation” requirements.Thanks a lot for the inspiration , support and encouragement!

Steve Duda of Xfer Records has (re)released 8-Bit Shaper, a bent waveshaper effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.
Steve writes:

disclaimer: The sound is *slightly* different than previous, so if you happen to have the VST from 2006 in saved projects I would recommend to not update.

Free retro-style software synth plugin
Angular Momentum has released Retronix, a free retro-style software synth plugin for Windows.
The synth features 2 x 5 oscillators and one of them offers a wavetable mode with 135 waves.
The filter has overdrive, key tracking, an ADSR envelope and an extra High Pass filter to filter out unwanted low frequencies.
Zen – a free universal presets manager for Windows VSTis
Big Tick Audio Software has introduced Zen, a free universal presets manager for Windows VSTis.
Zen loads in any host as a vsti, and acts as a loader for other vstis. So with Zen, you can search for “Rhodes piano” and get a list of all matching presets – regardless of the final vsti (Rhino, Zebra, Absynth…). When you select one of the presets in Zen, the corresponding vsti is automatically loaded to play the requested preset.

Users can preview the presets in Zen, directly in the context of their track, and buy the presets they like with just one click. Presets can be bought individually, as opposed to purchasing a full bank of presets.

n0t0miz0r, a free MIDI note randomizer plug-in for Windows
SyS Audio Research has released n0t0miz0r, a free MIDI note randomizer plug-in for Windows (VST).
According to the developers, “This is quite handy if you do not have a faulty sequencer or an analog modular synthesizer with a sequencer option at hand. For 80´s-style electronic dance basslines for example, unpredictable randomness is mandatory.”
Features:
- Provides a stable and reliable solution (which really works) to receive Midi data inside a VST compatible host/wrapper.
- Processes (randomizes) the pitch of the notes inside the Midi data stream according to user defined parameters, and then passes the Midi data stream, including the processed note information, on to a Midi-out channel for further usage, in- or outside the VST host.
- All other parameters are unaffected by n0t0miz0r (timing, velocity, note lenght, aftertouch etc. will be passed through untouched).
- Lowest and highest randomized note controls to control what notes are affected.
- Randomization propability (0 – 100%) and exclude duplicates parameter.
