Oxygene – alive and kicking – Jarre concert report

Live in Stockholm – Release Magazine report

Now this is something that I never would have expected to see. Jean Michel Jarre, the undisputed king of grandiose stage shows on a tour of small venues, where everything is performed live without computers. The reason for this unusual move is the 30th anniversary of the groundbreaking “Oxygene” album. Jarre decided that is was time for a new master recording in high definition audio, but at the same time he also performed the whole album live, together with three musicians. This was recorded and released as a DVD; “Oxygene – Live in Your Living Room” and it’s this performance that is now taken out on the road.

Super-charge Your Kontakt Sampler

Native Instruments Kontakt is a powerful sampler and musical tool, yet many people barely scratch the surface of what it can do for their music. Soniccouture aim to change all of that with this unique package – Scriptorium.

What is a KSP Script?

Way more than just a sound library, Scriptorium is a collection of unique KSP scripts – kind of like ‘plug-ins’ for Kontakt. A different concept entirely to traditional effects like compressors or reverbs, these ingenious tools open up new worlds of sonic possibility within Kontakt. KSP allows you to manipulate Kontakt parameters at a microscopic level, creating new behaviours, unique timbral characters or even generative sequences.

35 different Script processors are included in Scriptorium. Click here for a complete list.

Schaack Audio – new version – 2.0 of Transient Shaper

April 11, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Schaack Audio – new version – 2.0 of Transient Shaper

Schaack Audio Transient Shaper V2.0

Schaack Audio has announced that version 2.0 of Transient Shaper is now ready to go. This update introduces both adjustable attack and release shapes as well as analog saturation.

Transient Shaper itself shapes dynamics using a trim two knobs. It’s easy and quick to use, but despite simplicity can manipulate scape ranges like either gates or compressors.

Version 2.0, which features analog saturation, three attack shapes and three release shapes is compatible with V1.11. Here’s a look at some main points.

  • Makes your sound louder, gives it more expressiveness and more punch
  • Ideal for individual or summed drums/percussions shaping
  • Unique two-knob manipulation characteristics, not obtainable with any other type of gear
  • Excellent Gate replacement (sounds smoother than a gate)
  • Processed sound ranges from gate-like to compression-like
  • Resizable GUI (minimized by clicking in top left corner)
  • Low CPU Usage (typically less than 1% on half-decent systems)
  • Windows VST (for Windows 98 or better)
  • Apple OS X AU (Universal Binary for OS X 10.4.9 or better)

MachineKUNT – new exciting female electro label

April 11, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on MachineKUNT – new exciting female electro label

MachineKUNT is a new record label for female noise, electronic, and industrial musicians. Our mission is to encourage women all over the world to create electronic music. MachineKUNT was founded by Rachel (Experiment Haywire) who noticed we were strongly missing the element of independent females in the darker subcultures. She created MachineKUNT so she could connect with people: both musicians and listeners: who were ready to bring on some change.

MachineKUNT is ready for its first explosion with the upcoming release of its first compilation “Extreme Women in the Dark Future” featuring Chiasm, Neikka RPM, Noizekatt, Eva 3, Experiment Haywire, Aluminum Voyage, and Genocidio 1968 just to name a few.

Space art = Mariko Mori

April 10, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Space art = Mariko Mori

Certainly one the most hyped artists right now and the coolest one, enjoy

Since I enjoy space so much I jsut had to put in this post today

Mariko Mori (森万里子, Mori Mariko, b. 1967 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese video and photographic artist. While studying at Bunka Fashion College, she worked as a fashion model in the late 1980s. This strongly influenced her early works, such as Play with Me, in which she takes control of her role in the image, becoming an exotic, alien creature in everyday scenes. In 1989, she moved to London to study at the Chelsea College of Art and Design.

The juxtaposition of Eastern mythology with Western culture is a common theme in Mori’s works, often through layering photography and digital imaging, such as in her 1995 installation Birth of a Star. Later works, such as Nirvana show her as a goddess, transcending her early roles via technology and image, and abandoning realistic urban scenes for more alien landscapes.

Great interview with Mariko >>
