Rhythm Core Alpha for Nintendo DS – music creation system
Rhythm Core AlphaTM is the most advanced, easiest to use music creation system for the Nintendo DSi. It’s advanced DRUM GRID and NOTE GRID allow rhythm loops, basslines, and melodies to be created simply by tapping spots on the screen. You can see all the parts at once, making it much easier and faster to get your beats down.
It also has a unique 2D SOLO MODE, which lets you play sound live with the Nintendo DSi stylus. This mode’s 2d grid makes the largest number of notes available at once, making it easy to play real melodies.
Finally, the PATTERN SCREEN ties it all together, allowing the beats and chord changes to be ar- ranged into complete songs.
Not only does Rhythm Core AlphaTM have the easiest and most powerful sequencing on the Nintendo DSi, but Rhythm Core AlphaTM also does things no other music program will do. It recog- nizes the key and scale of the music you have created, and allows you to
change key easily with the +Control Pad. You can also sequence those changes in the PATTERN SCREEN. Nothing else does this.
Patterns can contain many loops that you can also select with the Nintendo DSi’s buttons, allowing you to change your beat or chord progression when- ever you want. Nothing else does this.
Finally, the SOLO MODE only shows notes that match the key and scale of the music you have sequenced, making it impossible to hit a wrong note. Nothing else does this.
Rhythm Core AlphaTM comes with nearly 300 built-in sounds, including synth sounds, orchestral sounds, rock sounds, and even old computer and video game (chipmusic) sounds. Furthermore, it al- lows the sounds to be customized with an adjustable ADSR envelope, and now with a powerful multi- waveform vibrato feature that is new to this release!
Numerous features have been added for this release, including not just the Vibrato, but also live recording of your solos directly into instrument tracks, live recording of your block and key changes into patterns, and enhanced pattern editing. This makes it not only the fastest program for sequenc- ing, but also a great tool for live performance. You can actually build an entire song live, in front of an audience! You can change the key of the music you sequenced with the +Control Pad or face buttons, like fingering a guitar, while soloing with the Nintendo DSi stylus using your other hand. Or you can sequence all of the chord changes in the pattern mode and concentrate more on your soloing.
We are pleased to announce that no changes have been made to the graphics in the program at all for this release. It is ugly because it is pow- erful, and we haven’t wasted any time or system resources on making it pretty. Rhythm Core Alpha presents you with as many controls as we could cram onto the Nintendo DSi’s two screens, which may overwhelm some, but gives the most power to the user. We consider this a profes- sional music tool, and think that it is a mistake to dumb down programs for the perceived “general audience”. Rhythm Core AlphaTM is the most advanced music program on the Nintendo DSi.

eyoControl 1.1 is out now
eyoControl 1.1 for the iPad, free update to the MIDI controllers set, adds support for the iPad’s native MIDI wireless connectivity (CoreMIDI), enabling users to connect to their DAW without requiring eyoControl Server. The latter is still being supported and provides advanced connectivity options for Mac users. The CoreMIDI update also brings Windows XP/Vista/7 compatibility through the third-party rtpMIDI software (see details on eyosido.com), which makes eyoControl compatible with most Windows based DAW.
This update adds a fourth entry to the controller library, mXY, a highly configurable multi X/Y controller. mXY has the following features:
– 4 independent X/Y controllers.
– Merge and Split modes: controllers can placed either in a common area (merged) or in individual slots (split).
– 1, 2, 3 or 4 controllers on screen simultaneously.
– controller axis individually assignable to Pitch Bend or any of 56 MIDI continuous controllers.
– enable/disable X and Y axis for each controller with a single tap.
– swap the settings of X and Y axis with a single tap.
– mirror mode: values can be mirrored in each direction around center position.
– reversed mode: min. and max. values can be reversed.
– return to center mode: releasing a controller makes it go back to center position.
– sticky mode: for easy positioning at center position.
– outer grip (Split mode only): enables to move a controller by dragging finger outside of the controller’s button.
– fine mode: choose between high or low resolution values for controllers whose values are larger than 8 bits.
– choose between 2 button sizes per controller.
– support for portrait and landscape orientations.
– controller settings are preserved for later reuse.
eyoControl is a set of MIDI controllers enabling control of your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software from your iPad in various ways, such as a control surface or a virtual instrument.
eyoControl includes the following controllers:
– Surface: a control surface supporting the Mackie Control protocol. Surface presents a traditional Mixer view with per-track buttons/knobs/faders, and a Panel View with quick access to the status of 64 tracks. Supports major DAW such as Logic, Cubase… (read details about DAW support at http://eyosido.com/eyocontro…).
– Pad: a 4/6/8/12-pads MIDI controller with tap-location sensitive (controls MIDI note velocity) pads suitable to play drum parts. Each pad has a configurable color/MIDI channel/note. A global velocity slider adds up to the velocity control of each pad.
– Keys: a dual keyboard MIDI controller with separate MIDI channels assignable per keyboard. Choose among three key widths per keyboard, and customize key colors. A global velocity slider controls note velocity.
– mXY: a multi X/Y controller featuring four independent, highly configurable X/Y controllers. Choose among 56 MIDI continuous controllers or pitch bend to assign. Each axis can be swapped, muted, reversed, mirrored etc…
eyoControl communicates with your DAW through the iPad’s WIFI connection using either the native iPad wireless MIDI capabilities (CoreMIDI) or eyoControl Server (Mac only) for advanced connectivity options.
NOTE: eyoControl is a set of MIDI controllers, it does not produce sound by itself!
Requirements:
– iPad running iOS 4.2 or above.
– a local WIFI connection.
– a laptop/desktop computer running MacOS X 10.4 or above, Windows XP/Vista/7 (rtpMIDI required) or any system compatible with the iPad wireless MIDI protocol.
– a Digital Audio Workstation software / audio sequencer with MIDI support.
Optional: if you opt for eyoControl Server instead of native MIDI, a Mac computer running Mac OS X 10.5 or above is required.
Check out http://eyosido.com for more details about eyoControl.

Plughugger brings you Nerd Electro
Plughugger has announced the release of Nerd Electro, a new loop and sample library in Kontakt 3, SFZ, Reason and WAV formats.
Before house, acid, techno and trance – there was a magical world often referred as ‘the 80s’. In the eighties the unicorns roamed free on the streets and people had hairstyles that defied style, sense and gravity. Before house – and particularly the nasty acid house – came and destroyed everything, and made everybody so incredibly hip, life was cute, poppy and quite naive.
Nerd Electro is the Plughugger take on the eighties, when synthesizers were expensive as hell, weighted a ton, were impossible to program, and sounded just slightly better than the keyboards for Very Small Children.
Nerd Electro features
- Nerd Electro is built around ten construction kits that includes loops, individual sounds and ready to go sampled instruments.
- All loops have a fixed tempo of 128 BPM.
- All drums both come as complete loops and individual stems.
- If a sound source is heavily processed, it also comes dry (if it makes sense).
- Everything was originally created in 24 bits and later resampled and dithered down to 16 bit.
- The Kontakt versions of the sounds comes with a special interface for quick editing of the most common parameters.
- Formats: Kontakt 3, Reason, SFZ and WAV.
Nerd Electro is available to purchase for €9.90 EUR.
