Warp’s Brian Eno site is offering a free download of “Imagine New Times”, a track from the Rick Holland-Brian Eno Drums Between The Bells sessions which won’t be on the album. Simply give them your e-mail address again, get the download link, and then you can just keep it looping. (Thanks to Bernd Kretzschmar.) Brian’s delivery is reminiscent of his 1999 -era installations — perhaps fittingly, as one of them ran at the Holland Festival.
Reason Control Voltage to MIDI Out – MaxMSP5
Reason maestor Peff has uploaded a nice demo on Control Voltage. Showing some early tests of routing Reason Note and Gate CV data from a Matrix Pattern Sequencer to MIDI note data.
this is still experimental and needs a lot more finishing before it will be viable, however early tests work with both internal and external hardware synths.

Time to get a sneak peak at the Hokusai audio tool
This is a quick preview of our Hokusai audio tool in action on the iPad. First we import a field recording (made earlier using Hokusai on iPhone, and transferred to the iPad via Dropbox).

I trim out my favourite takes, then combine them together using multiple tracks and the “hands-on editing” feature, where, instead of cutting and pasting, you simply “lift” your audio up off the track and slide it into place.
Mixing the tracks back down, I apply a series of special effects, then export the result as an MPEG 4 Audio file to Dropbox, and it appears automatically on my desktop computer a few seconds later.

Pain Machinery are back
It’s been a while since we heard anything from Pain Machinery but now they are back with new material. Sweden based label Complete Control Productions (CCP) release the newest material from The Pain Machinery: “Auto Surveillance”. “Auto Surveillance” is a collection of remixes from the forthcoming album “Surveillance Culture” due later in 2011.
Since their last album “Urban Survival”, The Pain Machinery have embraced a more structured electronic sound with fewer building blocks ‘but more punchiness’ as they put it. You may expect a hybrid of early EBM, New Beat and Acid House.
Remixes have been provided by Necro Facility, The Weathermen, Severe Illusion and Jouni Ollila to name just a few. The first release on this new label also features two tracks (“Twilight” and “Exit Strategy”) which will not be included on the album. Total playing time of this 14-track release is almost 70 minutes.

Free Ableton Live Rack – “Yamaha CP-35”
AfroDJMac’s latest contribution where he takes on the Yamaha CP-35.
The Yamaha CP-35 is a pretty cool vintage electric piano. Made sometime in the 1970s or 80s this instrument has a wide range of tone, sometimes reminiscent of the Fender Rhodes keyboards. Probably my biggest gripe about this keyboard is its size. The thing is huge and heavy. Cleverly, the case transforms into legs, but lugging this baby around to gigs is pretty much out of the question. Fortunately, it now fits in your laptop. The original model has flanger and tremolo effects, which I have attempted to emulate. I’ve also added some chorus, vibrato, and delay to add some flavor to it. The CP-35 is capable of a fairly wide range of electric piano sounds, and I have sampled five offerings. So the next time you need a nice dreamy vintage piano sound reminiscent of “Daniel” by Elton John, or a Stevie Wonder-esque funk piano, load up the AfroDJMac CP-35 rack.

Circuit Abbey goes Gravity and Distortion
The Gravity Well is a wave modifier using asymmetrical wave warping to create interesting new sounds. Think of the signal in orbit around a heavenly body whose gravity is being changed by the CV inputs. One CV varies the gravity field, another pushes it to one side, the third affects the north-south magnitude, and the forth the east-west. The module has one signal input and four CV inputs, all of which have level controls. Each CV channel has a BIAS control for setting initial bias level.
The module works by warping the positive and negative portions of the incoming signal by amounts determined by the CV inputs. The Inclination CV varies both polarities equally. The Eccentricity CV increases the positive warp and decreases the negative warp. The Longitude CV increases the positive warp only, while the Latitude CV increases only the negative warp.

Watch how renowned live performer Dub FX created his unique performance with the Traktor Kontrol S4 all-in-one DJ performance system using TRAKTOR 2 Technology Inside.
He records his voice using a microphone as the live input source in Traktor’s Loop Recorder, overdubbing layer after layer to create an intricate vocal arrangement.
Using the filter knob on the S4, he brings in a drum loop on a Sample Deck and adds more layers to the performance. Note how he moves recorded material from the Loop Recorder to empty Sample Deck slots to free the Loop Recorder for further use.
