INSTRUMENT 1 is controller that’s compatible with CoreMIDI iOS apps and designed to be a professional quality instrument. It can be held in multiple familiar positions–from guitar and fiddle to lap steel and upright bass.
Artiphon INSTRUMENT 1 Specifications:
- Compatible with any CoreMIDI-enabled iOS app and thousands of audio apps.
- Patent-pending force-sensitive interface with six virtual frets and strings, and a strum section inspired by single-coil guitar pickups.
- Accommodates five playing positions: guitar, mandolin, bass, violin, & lap steel.
- High-quality onboard connections for headphones, microphone, ¼-inch stereo instrument cable, and MIDI in/out, and USB.
- Controls for volume, instrument modes, and octave switching.
- Rechargeable internal battery and 12v power input.
- Integrated stereo speakers and a 30-watt, class-D amplifier.
- Advanced control of multi-track recording apps including GarageBand, Pro Tools, and more.
- Body carved of specialty hardwoods and bamboo from sustainable sources.

“We designed the INSTRUMENT 1 as a hybrid of pro-level components, ergonomic accessibility, and traditional instrument manufacturing techniques,” says Artiphon founder Mike Butera. “It’s been two years in the making and is unlike anything else on the market. We can’t wait to see all the ways musicians put it to work in their creative processes.”
Note: The images shown here are based on an INSTRUMENT 1 prototype. The final prototype is nearly complete and production of the first units is planned for early 2013.
Price and Availability:
Artiphon will begin taking pre-orders for the INSTRUMENT 1 in the first quarter of 2013, at a price point under $1000.

Demo Video: uPhase+
uPhase+ is an instrument geared towards live play. It has many features and shortcuts to enable complex improvisation with spatialized patterns. Browse the documentation or head straight to the Video Tutorials to learn how to play, or take a look at the demos below to get a feel of what is possible. uPhase+ will be released in the app store worldwide on November 27th, 2012. Until then, it will only be in the swiss app store. If you have downloaded uPhase Client without reading the app’s description, sorry , uPhase Client does nothing on it’s own. Minimoog Voyager + Tenori-On
Background video description (Googlish from Spanish):
THIS VIDEO IS TEACHING. NOT intend to present as art WHAT SOUNDS HERE.
The Tenori-On is also a good sound module, excellent sequencer. Among the possibilities that is counted as sequencer to sequence the analog equipment that has MIDI inputs and outputs.
Following the setup of the video:
MIDI
Tenori-On Voyager IN to OUT
Tenori-On Voyager OUT IN
After connecting as specified above and turn on both instruments. You must assign the MIDI channel of the MIDI channel Moog Tenori-On you want to tie. In the example, the Voyager melodic loop, which sounds all the time, is assigned to MIDI channel 1 and the layer 1 of the song within the Tenori-On.
AUDIO
Tenori-On: Stereo audio output to the audio console, without processing.
Voyager: mono audio output mono audio input of the MF-104Z Moogerfooger Delay and Moogerfooger audio output to audio console.
Do not use any additional processing.
This is just a simple example of how to incorporate the Tenori-On to September 1 analogue.
For MIDI analog synthesizers but with controls without CV / Gate, the recommendation is to use a converter MIDI to CV / Gate.
If you have a MIDI Patchbay (like MOTU MIDI Timepiece), it is possible to sequence up to 16 tracks simultaneously with external MIDI instruments.
We welcome your comments and your questions.

Tutorial: How to Stretch Midi Notes in Ableton Live
Here’s a quick tip on how to use Ableton’s stretch midi notes feature. It’s a super useful technique for changing the duration of a set of midi notes.

Elektron Analog Four — Four Voice Synthesizer
Here’s a brand new video from Elektron showing off their new analog beast
Analog Four is a 4 voice analog synthesizer with state-of-the-art digital controls. Explore the world of rich, warm and gritty sounds in an updated and refined way. http://www.elektron.se
The Analog Four is a four voice analog synthesizer. Analog oscillators and filters ensure the most organic sounds imaginable and the Elektron step sequencer caters for the innovative sound control. With sequencer features like parameter locks and variable length per track, intricate Analog Four compositions can be created quickly and efficiently. Add the completely new and incredibly well-crafted effects to the mix and experience the next chapter in analog sounds. It just sounds right.
Not only a splendid sound making device, the Analog Four can also make other gear sing. Thanks to the CV/Gate and DIN sync outputs, legacy analog gear can be controlled in great detail. Sequencer features like arpeggiators and parameter locks will breathe new life in old equipment and make any modular synthesizer rig truly come alive.
Live performance features are aplenty. The special performance mode gives direct access to user-defined parameters and direct pattern change makes it possible to change patterns at any sequencer step. The arpeggiator can be instantly toggled on or off for swirling melody lines. Improvising when playing live has never been this easy. The Analog Four was born for the stage.
All 4 tracks have been sequenced inside the new Elektron Analog Four. I wanted to show various parameters for Filters, Oscillators and ‘how it sounds’ while playing this composition. There is no external processing, everything you hear is from the Analog Four.

Soundcells has released Digital Genome v3
In modern molecular biology, the genome is the entirety of an organism´s hereditary information. It is encoded either in DNA or in case of this fine ReFill it´s the AMIGA1200 encoded in Reason´s NNXT samples. The AMIGA1200 with it´s 8-bit Paula chip was extremely popular among producers all over the world in the early nineties. “Digital Genome” picks up the thread where Soundcells left with “bitBUMPER deluxe” with it´s funky, housy and spacy lo-fi character! Warm, gritty, sleezy, dangerous and nostalgic are the keywords. This ReFill can be used as a full workstation since everything the old Amiga had to offer is in there: basses, keys, lead synths, warm pads and enough drums and percussion to eat your heart out. And do not forget the wonderful FX section. The 200+ Genome combinators are conveniently built up with the right button functionality. Version 3 adds 25 new combinator patches, new NNXT patches as well as revised backdrops…
‘Digital Genome v3‘ Contents:
• 203 combinator patches in 6 folders, great for many different styles of music.
> 36 Basses
> 28 SFX
> 43 Keys
> 18 Leads
> 27 Misc
> 51 Pads
• 208 NNXT patches containing the basic sounds which were used for the combinators.
• 230 original AMIGA1200 samples, 178 MB uncompressed.
• 21 fresh and great useable rex loops.
