Yamaha AN1x – Synthesizer demo – Ambient arpeggiator / chillout drone music
Yamaha AN1x synthesizer demo — playing ambient electronica soundscape / chillout drone / space music using a repeating arpeggiator motif.
This ambient synth demo is very relaxing and meditative, and was created using 2 oscillators, reverb, delay, and filter/envelope adjustments.

About the synth:
The AN1x is a powerful retro-analog synth with a really cool new feature that lets you record real-time editing and filtering and be able to store it as part of the sound! A major contender in the new wave of analog-digital synths using DSP modeling of analog waveforms to recreate the coveted sounds of analog synths with modern digital specifications. It offers truly traditional yet modern methods of analog synthesizing, 10 notes of polyphony, 8 knobs for tweaking, and an arpeggiator with dozens of inspiring patterns!
Although the AN1x is not a follow-up to the CS1x (which has since been followed by the CS2x and the CS6x) it has borrowed many functions and technologies from the CS1x synth. First, it’s built in an almost identical case with the same layout of buttons and knobs as the CS1x. However the function of every knob and button has been greatly expanded. The AN1x also has 2 Scene memories for instant recall of any envelope and filter settings and the mod-wheel can be used to morph between the two scenes. On-board effects and a state-of-the-art arpeggiator section also are on-board for giving your sounds life and motion.
The AN1x adds a new Ribbon controller for increased real-time control. It also includes pulse width modulation, ring modulation and oscillator syncing. The AN1x may not be the next evolution of the CS1x but it is basically a more advanced synth capable of increased sound potential and quality. It has a better feeling keyboard than the CS1x as well assuming that the AN1x is for those looking for something more professional than the CS1x

“Had Stephan in yesterday working on a new Natural Habitats track. We set up the ARP2500 and made some drum sounds. It really is an amazing instrument the 2500. Here is a live tweak I did a bit later messing with a snare drum type sound. There is absolutely no reverb added to this, it is all done with the envelope generator and various filters and white noise. The rest of the loop is done with cross-mod vcos and the sequencers. The Roland MC-4 MicroComposer was an early microprocessor-based music sequencer released by the Roland Corporation. It could be programmed using the ten key numeric keyboard or a synthesizer keyboard using the keyboards control voltage and gate outputs. It was released in 1981 with a list price of US$3,295 (¥430,000 JPY) and was the successor to the MC-8, which in 1977 was the first microprocessor-based digital sequencer.
This sequencer was released before the advent of MIDI, and viewed by some composers to have more accurate timing. The MC-4 has an output patchbay to the right of the control panel, allowing you to patch the MC-4 to a synthesizer using 3.5mm patch cords. There are four channels of outputs containing CV-1, CV-2, Gate and MPX (multiplex) to control four separate synthesizers.To the left of the output patchbay there are two switches and a control knob. The control knob alters the tempo of the sequencer. The first switch is for cycle mode (which allows the programmed sequence to repeat continuously until the sequencer is stopped), the second switch is for sync control. The MC-4 can be synced to other Roland equipment such as a drum machine or another MC-4 MicroComposer (offering eight separate channels of sequencing).

RB1robotto is a voltage controlled singer, an irresistible source of pitched vowels, and much more. The product, the first in our line, was born as a sunday afternoon project, by putting together our modular, ad arduino board and a speech chip. The blending of the ‘voice’ with the noises, tones, and buzz from the modular was so good that we built a company around that.
Now, the production unit is real. Lush steel panel with thick silkscreened prints and deep red tones. You control the ‘voice’ of the robotto with your well known CV sources. Pitch and Gate are the usual dishes, accompanied by vowel and consonant control. Each of those are playable also by hand, and there is a manual gate too, ORed with the jack input.

Electronic music instruments rely on control voltages in some form or another. Both analog and digital systems require a means of changing pitch, timbre, loudness, and other sonic characteristics. This is achieved using control voltage, or in the case of software like Propellerhead Reason, a digital representation of control voltage.
A powerful feature of Propellerhead Reason is the implementation of signal routing in the virtual rack environment. This system includes both audio cabling and control voltage cabling. A single modulation source, such as an LFO, can control several other synths that react the instant you alter the LFO settings. This ability to have a signal from one software synthesizer control a different software synth, is an amazing feature that often goes overlooked.
For Reason users, interested in learning about control voltage routing, this on-going series will provide an introduction to the terminology and protocols in using this feature in Propellerhead Reason. The tutorials are presented as individual Reason Song Files and require various Rack Extensions that help illustrate active processes. Each lesson is embedded in the session file, so you actively experience control voltage at work, or you can quickly copy and paste patches to your own projects.
