NanoStudio – adding support for the Akai SynthStation25 MIDI controller
Blip Interactive has updated its iPhone music app NanoStudio, adding support for the Akai SynthStation25 MIDI controller, and the update is now available in iTunes.

Ellatron – virtual Mellotron for iOS
This is a quick demo of Ellatron – an iOS virtual Mellotron – being controlled via MIDI.

A small group of people will remember our first MIDI video about 10 months ago that needed a jailbroken iPhone. Well here is the real thing.
Filmed by iPod Touch, here are a few of the features of the Ella MIDI implementation – 3 voices at once (upper, lower and pads), all can be played concurrently if you have enough hands or somebody else around/on stage who can hit the pads. Programmable keyboard split for upper and lower, programmable chord pads if your keyboard supports it (and the Axiom 49 has 8 of them – mighty useful). Ella can be seen responding to controllers on the keyboard with on-screen information keeping you up to date, and controllers are used to change voices, volume, pitch, tone, reverb parameters, and level/pan for each of the upper, lower and pad instruments.
Ellatron and the Lite Trons now all feature the same rich reverb unit first seen in M3000, and the MIDI Ellatron is going to hit the shops with a handful of the real Tron voices from M3000, albeit with the usual limitations – shorter loop times, major third sampling intervals etc. Mellotron purists, or indeed anyone who wants a real Tron will still want the M3000, but people who just want a handful of Tron sounds for occasionally spicing up a song will love the new Ella.
Plus the MIDI implementation is ultra-responsive, despite this being a debug build and having a dozen printfs per played note – printfs going over WiFi to the Mac, because you can’t really printf with an attached dock accessory…
A bit more work to do on the user interface to de-stupid it (e.g. “What is” … “This For?” on the left!), an upgrade to the saved/restored preferences file, and we will be ready to roll out for testing. If all goes well we should be good to go by early December.
iPad transforms itself into a MIDI controller
MIDIPilot (App Store link) is a $9.99 app that turns your iPad into a configurable, multifunction MIDI controller, using its multi-touch display to play notes and control synthesizer and effects parameters to a computer over a WiFi connection.
MIDIPilot is modular in structure, and can operate as various combinations of a scrollable, piano-style keyboard with pitch bender, controller ribbons and X-Y pads.
MIDIPilot works with the open-source DSMIDIWiFi software, which is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
The StepPolyArp has been updated to support MIDI
Laurent Colson’s StepPolyArp (App Store link) – a MIDI step polyphonic arpeggiator – has been updated to support the Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer.
This means you can use it with an iPad to sequence computer software, wirelessly, and your hardware synths, using a MIDI cable.
The arpeggiator does not play any sound itself, it transmits midi notes to a Mac or a PC to be used in combination with any sequencer, virtual instrument (VSTi, Audio Unit) or midi synthesizer.

SoftStep tutorial – multi-touch controller
Keith McMillen Instruments announced earlier in the week the release of SoftStep, the first universal multi-touch USB/MIDI foot controller.

Massive DJ Multitouch controller
This is a preview of the Emulator – a giant multitouch MIDI controller, from the Amsterdam Dance Event 2010.
It’s basically a giant rear projection multitouch screen controller for DJing – or an iPad on steroids.
It’s available now in The Netherlands via Soundfreax Amsterdam.

So now my Monopoly owns a polyphonic midi-retrofit from CHD Elektroservis. 808 beat is done in Ableton. Theres a little delay on the sound because the sound you hear is the actual tape recording and plays a little slower then thza original sound. Not really special but I just wanted to show this monophonic midicontrolled polysynth.
Nice demo from Analogue Solutions
Here’s a video demonstrating the Analogue Solutions Europa hardware MIDI sequencer [www.analoguesolutions.com] in action, re-creating a classic beat (Depeche Mode’s People are People).
The beat was created using Europa’s Internal mode (not synced to MIDI clock or using outside sequencers). An Ensoniq ASR-10 was providing the drum samples in this case.
The Europa was also used to sequence the AS Telemark synthesizer at the end of the video and uses the Europa’s velocity controls (per step key) to control the Telemark’s filter (velocity to filter).
At the end of the vid, Europa is put into External clock mode and synced to MIDI clock (DAW sequencer). At this point, Europa will start/stop when the computer sequencer starts/stops. Europa also is sending sync to the AS Oberkorn MK3 sequencer, which is controlling the SE ObieRack.
