Saturn – new distortion and saturation effect
FabFilter has introduced its latest audio processing plugin Saturn, a distortion and saturation effect. In this tutorial, Dan Worrall explains the basics of FabFilter Saturn. He starts with a simple single-band saturation example explaining the available algorithms and most important controls of the plug-in. Finally, he explains some more complex setups, using multiple bands and making use of the extensive modulation section.

MIDI plugin for Windows designed to deliver the classic Tangerine Dream step sequencing ratcheting effect:
Ratchit is a tool to achieve the “ratcheting effect”, which was made famous by Tangerine Dream on their old records.
It is meant to be placed behind ClockWOrK but will of course work with any step sequencer or manual MIDI input.
Ratchit is a VST-plugin that repeats incoming notes according to the selected clock divider. It can be triggered manually or via MIDI CC controller. That way it can be controlled by the CC knobs of Clockwork to have different divide speeds at different steps.

Nice new free phaser effect plugin – Phazor
Adam Szabo has released Phazor, a is a free phaser effect plugin for Windows.
Phazor is a free effect plugin, which emulates the phaser effect found in the Virus synthesizers, which helped make its characteristic sound. A lot of time was devoted to make it sound very close to the original and every control has been carefully adjusted to behave just like the phaser from the Virus.
It has selectable 1 to 6 stage all-pass filters controlled by an LFO, with spread and feedback controls. The plugin is highly optimized and its CPU usage is minimal, allowing for multiple instances to be used in a project.
Phazor is avaialble to download as a freeware VST effect plugin for Windows.
