In search for an old Kraftwerk Reason Refill I´ve lost…
… I came across this intriguing and inspiring site.
Some years ago I had quite a nice Kraftwerk refill that I lost in transfer between laptops
and searching through the old sources I soon realized that refill was nowhere to be found, but to my great surpirise I came acroos the original author again and actually managed to download some of those refills again and being such a nice person I of course would like to share it with all of you guys
Take a look at this Kraftwerk/Apple/Widgets/VST multimedia artist and enjoy…
Reason 4 special in Computer Music – free refill :-)
If you have seen it or bought it already don´t miss out on this limited edition from CM covering the gross part of Reason 4, good tutorials and quite a decent exclusive refill I msut say. There are some nice effects in the Loopmaster’s refill.
This is what CM writes on their cover issue:
Reason 4: The Unofficial Guide

The long-awaited follow-up to our sellout Expert Guide to Reason has hit the newsstands in the UK and Europe. It’s called Reason 4: The Unofficial Guide – here’s a look at what’s inside:
Step-by-step guides to using Reason 4’s brand new features. Learn how to improve your workflow with the completely revamped sequencer, make mighty sounds with Thor, create impressive musical riffs with RPG-8, and inject your tracks with groove with the ReGroove Mixer.
Studio Sessions projects take you step-by-step through the process of composing, mixing and remixing a complete track. Learn how to get quality results from your setup that’ll stand up to the best commercial tracks out there.
Masterclasses. Revisit some old favourites with this section of tutorials. Customise your setup with the Combinator, get down to some intricate drum programming with Dr.Rex, explore the many possibilities of CV routing, and get experimental making a granular synthesis patch. Also demonstrated is a pain-free procedure for incorporating vocals or other audio parts into your Reason compositions.
On the CD are two exclusive Reason 4 ReFills lovingly compiled by the sonic wizards at Loopmasters and TrackTeam Audio. More than 500 patches, samples, groove templates and Thor Combi’s are featured, covering a wide variety of uses and genres, from vocals, d’n’b, hip hop and dubstep to ethnic, house, jazz, trance and more.
Good site for Reason Refills and for other platforms – C64, Pads, Apollo
Came across this site the other day and YES they had a very good collection of free refills (you need to sign up though, but it is free to register)
Just a tip on the way: I have been collecting refills for some 7-8 years by now and I have never purchased any commercial refills and still I today have a refill collection (and yes again only targeting the type of music I produce – electro, synth, EBM etc) closing in on 12Gigs – so make sure to surf around and download all the demo refills and free refills you can find and I assure you will never need to by a commercial one
Some of the stuff that I liked was;
the Whale refill
the C64 refill
and the Apollo refill
But make sure to support all the good musicians out there here is one good source for starters:
Tuesday afternoon with a Nintendo Chip Reason Refill
Nintendo NES Wave Pack Demo Refill – 12MB zipped. An extremely limited but free version of the refill in our store.
My suggestion – downlaod the demo and find out for yourself if its useful
This is what the manufacturers saying about it;
Do you want to make chip tunes? Or integrate the sound of the Nintendo NES into your music? You do not have to buy the NES or mess around old gear and software that doesnt quite emulate that natural sound 8 bit sound. These are profesionally recorded samples at 24 bit 96khz bit rate directly from the NES output on the back of the machine. People will actually think you have an NES with midi. This CD Includes all wave files of every type of synthesis that the NES is capable of! Every Square wave, Sine, Noise, and even 8-bit percussive samples. Already pre-packed for use as reason refills, these raw uncompressed, unedited samples will give you the power of NES inside your computer x infinity.
These are right out of the back of the NES and professionally mastered. Song templates are for Reason 3.0. The chip collection philosophy is to give you the highest sample rate, and to limit the amount of digital artifacts in your final product. All WAVE files are exposed and editable! Can be imported into other samplers.
Electro Thor refill – a must have
Electro Thor is a collection of around 68 Fresh Sounding Electro synths. For all you electro fans out there, and YES they´re only available to Reason 4 users.
In my upcoming song Dopamin you can enjoy some of the new sounds
You can download the refill for free at CombinatorHQ, you only need to register

Reason Refills and more
Just thought I´d share some of my sources for finding high quality Refills for Reason. I know there is an endless line of good sources, but at least this is a start
Ambition is to post the ones that have free refills, but sometimes they will ask you to buy the whole pack, but need not worry often they´ve posted a demo refill that works equally well – at least for starters.
In this post I´ve included the list of sources that I´ve posted today, but make sure to come back becuase I will keep this updated in the sidebar as well with new ones as they appear.

Kevorkian in London
After three days in London and getting back to Sweden at 1AM I am still trying to recover from a hectic time in the big city. Long days of working and joining parties paired with long nights together with the new R4 has hopefully resulted in something nice.
I have sent out my new song Kevorkian out for review and hopefully I will be able to post it here in a couple of days. As expected the RPG-8 is nice tool, however I haven´t really figured out yet how to make the most of the ReGroove-machine – not so intuitive as many of the other Reason tools, hmm will see
Btw saw that Emmon was lined up together with Thermostatic for the Xmas event, should be OK I think
Ciao
