Last night i make my way out to Arlington, Ma to work on a new sample pack with Dave Jones, the idea was to record modulars and then process the recorded sounds.
“Bee” ready for this
I wanted to see how far I could take the recordings of bees into the realm of music. The bee produces about 200-230 wing flaps pr. second, which is enough to generate a nice, rich sounding buzz. I recorded a bunch of bee sounds and manipulated them through a variety of tools (including timefreezers, delays, filters, glitch modules etc). I then decided to add some more human elements to it (vocals, guitars, grooves etc) and wrapped it up by adding full symphony orchestra and choirs on it during the end.
Besides the bee sounds – the majority of samples are coming from the tonehammer.com sample catalog.
Hope you enjoy it. Einstein once predicted that the human race would survive no more then 4 years after the extinction of bees due to their keystone role in the entire ecosystem. So peace out to all the bees and bumbles.

TeamDNR has announced Ammunition, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.
We’re getting ready to release our new drum library, called Ammunition for Kontakt 4+ and we’ve put together a few demos and a teaser video which we’ll post here over the next few days.
Our aim with this project was to create a package of fundamental drum sounds and focus on layering and building the sounds within Kontakt, all around a 10MB download.

AKWF Waveforms – single cycled
Adventure Kid has released a free collection of single-cycle waveforms for wavetable synths, AKWF Waveforms:
I have been making and collecting one cycle waveforms for years. They have been one of my best weapons to use when making sounds.
If you have a wavetable synthesizer that can load single cycle waveforms you might find them useful as well.
If you are familiar with basic subtractive synthesizers you probably know the saw, square, sinus and triangle shape that are the most common shapes a oscillator can produce pretty well. Single cycle waveforms are tiny audio files (.wave) that a synthesizer can read to use as oscillator shapes.
What it means is new sounds. Some kind of grey area between sampling and synthesis. A raw waveform is very rarely what makes a whole sound but you can see it as presets for oscillators. Happy sound designing!

The sounds of Japan in your music
Impact Soundworks has announced the release of Koto Nation: Classical Instruments of Japan, a koto, bass koto and shamisen library for Kontakt, featuring world-class performer Masayo Ishigure.
We created Koto Nation out of a desire to see traditional Japanese instruments receive a deep, thorough sampling treatment, much like our acclaimed North Indian sample library Sitar Nation. While there are a handful of libraries which include samples of the koto and shamisen, they feature only the most basic articulations and few (if any) velocities or round robins. To our knowledge, the bass koto has never been sampled at all! Given the popularity of the shakuhachi and taiko in many Western film soundtracks, we wanted to allow film composers, hobbyist producers, ethnomusicologists, anime fans and everyone in between access to these classic instruments and complete the repertoire of traditional Japanese sounds available.
This library includes a massive number of samples spanning a wide variety of both traditional and extended playing techniques all recorded by koto legend Masayo Ishigure (Memoirs of a Geisha). We’re confident that this is, without a doubt, the most comprehensive koto, bass koto and shamisen library ever to be released!
