The Walt Disney Studios Post Production Services has a rich history in Dubbing dating back to the early 1940′s when Fantasia was mixed in the Main Theatre. Fantasia went on to win several technical achievement awards from the Academy as it was one of the first to mix in “Stereo” and it actually incorporated an early form of surround sound termed “Fantasound”.
The Sound Editorial department is staffed by a talented crew including two-time Oscar-winner George Watter II along with Robert Sephton, and Thomas de Gorter. The facilities include Pro Tools Digital Audio Workstations and 5.1 sound design rooms that are truly state-of-the-art. In addition, this world class facility provides complete sound integration and compatibility with the mixing stages in a conveniently located campus-like environment in Burbank, CA.
Teaser for the new Hollow Sun VP330 vocoder
This is a sneak preview/teaser for the new Hollow Sun VP330+ sample library – an emulation of the classic Roland VP-330 Vocoder Plus.
According to Hollow Sun, this should “give an idea of how close this is to having the real thing in front of you with the interactive panel. Long multi-samples, captured in stereo, authentically re-create this classic vintage keyboard.”
Release date and pricing are to be announced.
JM Jarre receives prize
Jean Michel Jarre received the MOJO Lifetime Achievement award, presented by John Foxx.
After the award, Jarre had a special message for his fans:
Dear Friends,
First of all, I would like to pay tribute to all my fans around the world who are supporting my work constantly.
It has been one of the most encouraging elements of my life, and particularly this past year, for all the reasons you know.

Get rocking with Podium
Podium Free is a fully functional freeware edition of Podium. It is identical to the commercial Podium version, except for a few limitations, and a small “Podium Free” logo.
Limitations of Podium Free compared to the commercial version
- MIDI interface setup is limited to one input and one output.
- 64-bit mixer engine option is disabled.
- Plugin multiprocessing is disabled.
- ReWire is disabled.
- Surround-sound playback is disabled.
The disabled plugin multiprocessing option means that only one CPU core will be used when processing plugins. If you have a dual-core CPU you will be able to use 50% of your available CPU power before the Podium CPU indicator overloads. Podium Free still uses all available CPU cores for various tasks such as GUI updates and disk streaming.
New stuff from Tonemeister
Michael Kastrup has released Tonemeister GM 80, an 80′s General Music ReFill for Reason.
In short this Refill could be considered as a General 80′s Music module with a twist, the twist is that the multisamples are done with effects on, meaning reverb and other spatial sound things are kept except for delays.
All multisamples are synthesized from scratch, additional samples are a special Redrumkit created for these 80′s sounds.
The Refill size is 300 MB (650 MB unpacked), covers 120+ multisamples which are made into NN-XT presets to keep things real simple.
Tonemeister GM 80 is available to purchase for 19 EUR.

Rebirth of Propaganda
Propaganda will release a deluxe edition of their “A Secret Wish” album on August 2nd to mark the 25th anniversary of the original release. The new 2CD edition, to be released via ZTT, will feature the original album alongside various remixes that were formerly only available on cassette and vinyl. The second disc will hold bonus material including the complete 20-minute cassette mix of “Duel”, Trevor Horn’s previously unreleased “Dr. Mabuse (Thousand Eyes…)” remix, a work-in-progress version of “The Chase” and ten-minute 12′ mixes of “Frozen Faces” and “p:Machinery”.
Propaganda is a German synthpop group, formed in 1982 by Ralf Doerper (a member of the German industrial band Die Krupps) soon joined by Andreas Thein and vocalist Susanne Freytag. They were one of the initial roster of acts signed to Trevor Horn’s ZTT label, between 1984 and 1986, during which they released the critically acclaimed album “A Secret Wish”.

Paint the sound of the 808 drum computer
Installations don’t have to be complicated to be fun. Color a Sound is more like an instrument, and it is not very difficult to operate: you use a colored marker to draw lines or shapes and you will hear the result immediately.
To keep things simple and easy to operate, also for a untrained musician, only the major scale is used. Blue dots can be drawn to trigger the sounds of a vintage 808 drum computer, although this does not seem to work very well because it is impossible to keep it running at a constant speed.
