Numark introduced the NDX800 Controller
Numark introduced the NDX800 Controller – a controller designed for DJs who want to use DJ software to perform, without giving up the ability to play other types of media such as CDs, MP3 CDs or music on USB flash drives.
NDX800 Controller comes pre-mapped and complete with Traktor LE in the box.
The NDX800 Controller has a large touch-sensitive platter for controlling, cueing, and scratching. You can connect a USB flash drive for access to MP3s. You can also use it to control MIDI software by connecting NDX800 to a Mac or PC with a USB cable.
NDX800 Controller has an advanced platter that is touch-sensitive for superb accuracy and smooth control of tracks on discs, flash drives, and software. The large, 7.75” platter is surrounded by an illuminated ring that acts as a position display, like putting tape on vinyl. The platter’s touch sensitivity is adjustable.
NDX800 Controller includes beat-synced DSP effects, including chop, echo, filter, flanger, pan, and phaser. NDX800 Controller also has an internal sampler and three sample/hot cue trigger pads. NDX800 Controller has seamless looping on a set of easy-to-understand controls,including adjustable loop-out point.
Five stutter starts and cue point memory storage round out this powerful deck’s remix capabilities.
Seabound have started the work on fourth studio album
The duo have once again entered the studio together and a new album is in the works, the bands 4th, but at this point no title can be revealed nor any release schedule. The duo report that the first larger studio session is complete and the first couple of songs is near completion.
One reason for the lack of new material or updates from the band is that frontman and singer Frank Spinath been working Edge Of Dawn and new creation Ghost&Writer together with The Weathermen-founder Jimmyjoe Snark III.
The last studio album “Double-Crosser” was released back in 2006 followed by the Live-release “Come Forward” (2008) and rarity EP “When Black Beats Blue” in 2009.

TheDrumSource – virtual drum machine instrument
Ola Wistedt and Mats Lindfors have released version 1.0 (release candidate 1) of TheDrumSource, a sample based drum machine instrument for Windows.
It has a sequencer and a built in sample browser. It looks and “feels” like a classic (x0x) hardware drum machine.
TheDrumSource is designed with the purpose to be very simple and easy to work with even if you are used to work with hardware drum machines or not. The built in sample browser in TheDrumsource makes it very easy to navigate through your samples. The sequencer can be running when looking for new samples. You will hear the sample the moment you selects it. There is also a quick button to select the previous and next sample in the same directory as the current selected sample. TheDrumsource has a very short time to get started on making your beats.
TheDrumSource features
- Built in sample browser suited for a easy workflow when working with samples. And almost all of TheDrumSource’s functions is still available while browsing.
- Built in sequencer that has 24 sequences for your patterns. The patterns are of the 16-step bar type
- Support for many sample formats (including 24 bit samples): WAV, AIFF, AIFC, AU, SND, RAW, PAF, IFF, SVX, SF, VOC, W64, MAT4, MAT5, PVF, XI, HTK, CAF, SD2, FLAC, OGG.
- A GUI that can be resized to suit you screen.
- A quick button to change the next and previous sample in current directory of the selected sample.
- A stereo output channel for each drum. And a mode to mix down all channels temporary into one stereo channel for quick tests to get you up and running a little bit faster on some hosts.
- The SYNC mode. The sequencer is synced by the host (DAW) and you control which of the 24 track to be played with MIDI (octave 2 and 3).
- The MIDI mode. The samples can be played through midi keyboard (octave 1) with the sequencer turned off.
- The RUN mode. Lets you play around with the TheDrumsource sequencer when your host (DAW) is not running.
- Clean interface so you don’t get distracted in your creative work. TheDrumsource uses context menus to make this possible.

Spectralis 2 virtual analog groove maker
Radikal Technologies are showing their hardware synths at NAMM 2011 with the return of the Spectrailis 2 virtual analog groove maker. Also on on show was the debut of the Accelerator synthesizer. Featuring 3 oscillators, 3 multi-mode filters, FM modulation, wave shaping, advance aftertouch and built in accelerometer that modulates the sounds when you move the keyboard.

New plugin version of the original Aphex Aural Exciter
Waves Audio in association with Aphex, is set to release their modeled plugin version of the original Aphex Aural Exciter. Officially called the Waves Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter, the new plugin is based on one of two prototype tube-powered units developed by Aphex during the mid seventies.
