DSP Trigger features

  • Easy to use.
  • Supports positional sensing (mesh pads only).
  • Up to three articulations from a single zone.
  • Both sensitive and dynamic.
  • Extremely fast and accurate triggering.
  • Advanced controls for velocity curve shaping.
  • Supports both single and dual zone pads (piexo / piezo).
  • Crosstalk cancellation.
  • Low CPU usage.

DSP Trigger for Windows (VST) is available to purchase for $39 USD. An unlimited (nagscreen) demo version is available to download from the AudioFront website.

It’s quite handy, and a lot of fun. Every sound you hear was created on Korg DS-10. Feel free to ask questions. Please enjoy!!! =)

Richard Hoadley – Gaggle, Generative Sound Interface 2010

March 17, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Richard Hoadley – Gaggle, Generative Sound Interface 2010

The Gaggle prototype has been imagined, designed and developed in order to experiment personally with such interfaces, and primarily with the link between sensor (in this case ‘pings’), physical computing board (in this case Arduino) and SuperCollider audio language.
Gaggle provides an opportunity to investigate performance using Gaggle, including questions such as: * Does the number of sensors affect the nature of the interface? Does increasing the number of sensors to a point where they are difficult to control consciously affect performativity? * Does the relative position of the sensors affect the result. In particular these ultrasound sensors can interfere with each other, especially when designing for movement such as that created by dancers. * How does the type of movement to be used with the interface affect the use and design of the interface? For instance, in this case, how is the direction of the sensors affected and what difference does this make? * Interplay between physical implementation and software algorithms: for instance, does the physical nature of the interface need to be reflected in its performance results. Of course all the usual issues concerning algorithmic composition and structuring arise at this point.

Twinthesis – the Twitter based synth

March 16, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Twinthesis – the Twitter based synth

For more information: http://tinyurl.com/twinthesis

The idea behind twinthesis was to explore the ‘sound’ of twitter, to harness the potential of the human randomness being generated on the service. Twitter has over hundreds of millions of users world wide, a figure which is expanding at a rate of about 300,000 users a day. These users are submitting on average around 90 Million tweets per day. There is a huge amount of data there, ready to be sonified, and turned into audio.

Twinthesis is a MaxMSP based patch, that extracts the most recent public tweet, and deconstructs that information in order to generate sound. Several pieces of data can be taken directly from the tweet, including the length of the tweet, and the actual letters within the tweet itself.

Buchla 200e Randomness Experiment

March 16, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Buchla 200e Randomness Experiment

A simple “controlled randomness” experiment wherein three oscillators randomly change pitch with each new trigger via the Source of Uncertainty. The pulsing is achieved from the ring modulator and, of course, the filter sweep is touch controlled.
