In honor of Bob Moog’s 77th Birthday, Moog engineer Steve Dunnington summons a Minimoog Voyager Orchestra to play a Mooged Out version of what else?…Happy Birthday!
Steve overdubbed 6 tracks of Minimoog Voyager, one voice at a time, to realize this rendition of Happy Birthday. Using sounds from the Voyager factory presets, this special version of Happy Birthday for Bob was envisioned as a stylistic mashup of Kraftwerk and Jean-Jacques Perry. Both are artists who helped put the Moog Synthesizer in the ear of listeners all over the world.
Happy Birthday, Bob! This year marks some big changes for the little company you started. None of it would be possible without your fearless genius, passion for innovation and overwhelming humility. Thanks for everything, Bob!

Understanding Logic Pro Automapping with Novation controllers
In this video tutorial, Novation product specialist Brandon Carroll stops by Dubspot to explain and demonstrate creative production possibilities with Novation 25 SL MkII MIDI Keyboard Controller and Logic Pro. Brandon starts by showing you how to setup the 25 SL, which comes with Automap Pro, and gives you complete control over your production software. He further shows you how to enable touch-sensitive knobs and faders and utilize the X and Y modulation and drum pads, sort through patches, access plug-in instruments and effects and create a track with chord progression and groove.
What does a four oscillator MiniMoog sound like?
MF107 Freqbox comprises an analogue oscillator with FM, an integral envelope follower and hard sync. With voltage inputs for all vital parameters and the Moog name on it, the Freqbox offers direct, unfussy musical interaction.
At the heart of the Freqbox is a Moog oscillator, its waveforms selected via a continuous knob — so much nicer than a switch. The smooth waveform transition begins with a triangle and progresses through sawtooth to square, culminating in a narrow pulse wave. The Frequency control is marked from zero to 10, representing a range of 25Hz up to 1.6kHz. I’d have preferred to see the real frequencies on there, but as the Freqbox is about working by ear, this is hardly a big deal. Should you feel the urge to exceed the base frequency range, a CV input on the rear is your means of applying external pressure to stretch the pitch from subsonic up to around 20kHz.

What’s a four oscillator MiniMoog sound like? Didn’t you always want to know? Then check this out. The FreqBox oscillator tracks quite well and has the same continuous wave form selection knob that the Voyager does. And it has sync and that works cool with overdriving the input of the Mini.

Togu Audio releases free vintage vocoder
TAL-Vocoder is a vintage vocoder emulation with 11 bands that emulates the sound of vocoders from the early 80’s. It includes analog modeled components in combination with digital algorithms such as the SFFT (Short-Time Fast Fourier Transform). This vocoder does not make a direct convolution of the carrier and modulation signal as other digital vocoders maybe do. It includes an envelope follower for every of the eleven bands. This vocoder is optimized for voice processing and includes some algorithms for consonants to make the voice more intelligible.
The carrier signal is a VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) with a Pulse, Saw, Noise and SubOsc. But it’s also possible to use the left stereo input as carrier. This way every sound source can be used as carrier signal. This plug-in supports every sample rate.

- Internal carrier synth (pulse, saw, sub osc, noise, mono, poly, portamento, sync mode, tune).
- Possiblity to route an external carrier signal.
- Harmonic control (adds more harmonics to any carrier signal)

Raul meets Wogglebug, Noisering, Doepfer A149-1 and 2, Borg and Dotcom
The “WoggleBug” is a random voltage generator with application in voltage controlled electronic music synthesizers. It is a continuation of “smooth” and “stepped” fluctuating random voltage sources pioneered by Don Buchla. Additional research was done by Serge Tcherepnin, who coined the terms “smooth” and “stepped”. The core of the circuit is based on the Buchla Model 265 “Source of Uncertainty” module. The design is expanded by using a CD4046 phase locked loop chip as a voltage buffer for Sallen-Key very low frequency smoothing filter. This adds a free linear VCO and ring modulator for your 40 cents. A novel method is used to get a 0-10 volt sawtooth out of the 4046. This is the source for the sample and hold, which makes the circuit “recursive” in some sense. The correlation control allows resampling of the S/H output and is another recursion level.
A new circuit, basically a phase locked loop which is tracking the “smooth” tone, is “kicked in the ass” every so often to cause the PLL to readjust the voltage for loop lock. The phase lock mechanism is a closed loop control system, and the lock voltage “rings” during readjustment, forming damped sinusoidal signals. At fast lock rates the ringing tones sound like plucked bass strings, at slow lock rates the voltages “woggle” and simulate string player vibrato.

About the Virus C: A brand new and ever more powerful strain of the Virus was released in 2002 to replace the entire B Series line-up. First up is the flag-ship desktop module, the Virus C. Polyphony is expanded from 24 to 32 voices! Otherwise the synth engine is virtually the same as the B series. Three oscillators, one sub osc., two independent multi-mode filters, two ADSTR envelopes, three LFOs, 16 arpeggiators, 32-band vocoder, five FM synthesis modes and 16 part multitimbrality. The C series offers an expanded mod matrix with 6 source and 9 destination slots, 98 effects, wood side panels, and more! A new 3-band EQ section is available as well as an Undo/Redo function. The operating systems can be easily upgraded via MIDI and there is a free SoundDiver Virus editor/librarian for Windows and MacOS systems available.
