Radiophonic Synth Workshop
Loopmasters has released Radiophonic Synth Workshop, a sample library featuring a new & unique sounding collection of analogue experimentation.
The team of scientists report that era defining instruments of analogue synthesis such as the Korg Mono/Poly and Roland System 100 and beautiful esoteric instruments like the Elka Synthex, Oberheim 4Voice and Octave Cat were combined with valve equalisation and dynamic control, vintage reverbs and tape delay, to create over 1Gb of data ready to be incorporated into any style of dance or electronic music.
Our team are pleased to report that soft synths or plug in of any type were not used in this project to ensure maximum analogue sparkle and depth within results.
The Radiophonic Synth Workshop sample collection from Loopmasters weighs in at 1.2GB and includes 890 Synth Samples recorded at pristine 24Bit resolution. Also included are 10 ready to play patches for Reason NNXT, Halion, EXS, SFZ and Kontakt soft samplers.
From Pulsing synths, Alien FX, Transmission Fuzz, Pulses and Deep Space Echoes, 50’s inspired Radio Chat, Sci Fi Bleeps, Lasers and more – this is one hell of a sound collection meant for all types of music producers worldwide.

Music From A Dry Cleaner
Diego Stocco’s experimental music creation are always a treat, check this one out:
Almost everyday, on my way to a local bakery, I walk in front of a dry cleaners.
When they have the front door open, I hear a lot of interesting sounds coming from their work equipment. Eventually, the different mechanical and steam sounds sparked something in my mind, so one day I asked the owners if I could record a piece of music by using their machines as musical instruments.
I used a puff iron, press and dry cleaning machines, a washer, clothes hangers, and a bucket full of soap.
The bass and lead sounds were created from the buzzing tones coming from the conduits and engines.
There are no additional sounds from any traditional or electronic instruments. Enjoy!

Featuring the new Fenix II synthesiser and the Fenix III sequencer
Here’s a video of the new Fenix II synthesiser and the Fenix III sequencer with some 808 action thrown in for good measure. The Fenix was recorded without effects, it has its own built in analogue delay that I messed with a bit.
The main melody is being played by the Akai MPC 1000 and the Fenix III sequencer is modulating the formant filter.
Fenix II (Synthesizer)
3 VCOs, 3 different VCO’s ( Inputs CV, FM, PWM, Sync e.o, Output square, triagle, sawtooth and some has puls, sub, sine e.o) )

Need more grit and dirt bass synth sounds in your music?
Noisebud needed a bass synth that delivered more grit and dirt and didn’t need hours of twiddling before getting there. They based the sound engine on waveshaping through distortion, bit crush and resonance since their VST fx chains on bass channels almost always contain that sort of plug-ins. The result is an angry old fart named Burt. He can get so angry that his audio buffers overflow and get silent – you have to restart your DAW to cool him down but don’t worry, Burt will start to scream again.
Burt is available for Windows as a VST instrument plug-in. It will be released publicly and free on the first of November, 2011.

Generative music performance app now released on Android
Orbits is an application for generative music performance, based around a gravity-based particle simulation. As a sandbox-type toy, there is no goal or ultimate aim.
Instructions:
Place a finger (or multiple fingers) on the screen to create particles. While you hold a finger down, the particle increases in size. Drag while holding down to set a starting direction for the particle (as if pulling back on a slingshot).Release to make the particle take off in the opposite direction. When two particles collide, they play two notes based on the particles’ sizes. The notes are locked to a scale/chord (which changes automatically), and thus are always in tune. Create particles of different sizes to get something interesting. Particles attract each other with a gravity-like force. Try to put particles in orbit around each other to create some interesting movements! Larger particles exert a more powerful force.
Press the Android menu button to open the option menu, where you can turn off the background chord or set the app into “autoplay” mode. When in autoplay, the particles will generate themselves, and you can sit back and watch what happens (you can still interact).

I just refurbished my JUNO-60 – this video is me taking it for a test drive after reassembly. No sequencer, just the built in arpeggiator and the “hold” function. The keys were stripped and washed, the switches and faders were given the full DeOxit treatment, and the dead internal battery was replaced with a lithium button cell. Finally the factory programs were reinstated using a WAV file. The effect is an analog tape delay provided by a Tascam 32 reel to reel. Looping the signal from the playback head to the record head. It don’t get any more analog than this… 
(Actually this is just as much a test of doing a 2×2 synchronous video matrix as it is a test of the synthesizer)
