Borderlands Granular Synth Jam

October 29, 2012 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Borderlands Granular Synth Jam

Borderlands Granular jam with iPad, specs below:

Borderlands Granular is a new musical instrument for the iPad.

NOTE: Borderlands Granular is designed for iPad 2 and 3. It will run on the iPad 1, but with potentially slower performance due to the heavy requirements of the audio processing.

Explore, touch, and transform sound with this new interface for granular synthesis, a technique that involves the superposition of small fragments of sound, or grains, to create complex, evolving timbres and textures.

Borderlands Granular emphasizes gestural interaction over knobs and sliders. Create, drag, and throw pulsing collections of grains over a landscape of audio files, or use the built-in accelerometer to sculpt sound with gravity. Record and share performances on the web.

Kinect controlling Korg iMS20 for iPad

“Another simple experiment…
i use synapse to control devices on Ableton Live, but i wanted to control another midi hardware from live, like my boss gt8 guitar processor, on this example the Y and Z positions of my right hand are changing the cutoff frecuency of the vc highpass and lowpass filter of my iMS20 respectively, the messages are routed with maxforlive devices (to avoid osculator and have automation with live) and sent via midi over wifi.”

The MIDI Designer app for iPad / iPhone (support coming soon) allows you to design the perfect MIDI controller to fit your needs. This is quick demo of the iPhone version which will be available soon as a free update. What really sets this app apart from the Lemur iOS app is that you can design ON YOUR DEVICE. Lemur does feature the physics engine but I’ve gotten word from the developer that we may see that at some point: http://twitter.com/MIDIDesigner/status/250668991553626112

Help support the iOS Musician blog by purchasing any featured apps you intend on buying via the links below.
